Illinois Snow in the 1920’s

My grandmother Charlotte in the hat and coat standing in front of the snow and my grandfather Judd with the shovel. Durand, Illinois. We had five inches yesterday in Pittsburgh.

Nothing like this!

  1. I remember those “big” snows growing up in upstate NY. I do miss it sometimes…I’m over it now though.

  2. Beautiful picture, isn’t it amazing how they handled all that snow with shovels. Today we have everything and still struggle to get the job done.

  3. Incredible. I can remember two snow storms like this in my life – both happened in northern Indiana. Lake effect snow is no joke!
