Age 18+? Not a problem
One of the boxes of LEGOs Charlie received for his 11th birthday on Thursday was this project-Mona Lisa. The appropriate age printed on the box of the 1,503 pieces was age 18+!
His dad is going to get a wall anchor and hang it up tomorrow.

A Double Couch Discard Day
I know these two couches had some adventures to tell. Shanti and I were headed to the Groceria in Bloomfield neighborhood to pick up a couple of meatball subs/hoagies/sandwiches for some friends. Oh my. I pulled over to the curb. Put the flashers on
We both got out of the car. She was as excited as I was to see TWO abandoned couches in front of the apartment building.

Doughnut Evidence
Sometimes at midnight you hear the engines reving up. You might have been asleep already.
But the roaring, screeching and squealing of tires travels up the hill from the lower road in the park.
Here’s some evidence of doughnuts by hot rods. “A doughnut (or donut) is a vehicle driving maneuver characterized by an intentional and sustained oversteeraction. Over the River and Through the Woods
That’s what we did to get to the Star Party held at the Mingo Creek Observatory.
In fact we even went over a one lane covered bridge. It was worth the drive as we saw Venus through two different telescopes and also a double star “ Albireo (β Cygni) in the constellation Cygnus. When viewed through a telescope, it spectacularly resolves into two contrasting stars: a brighter golden-amber star and a stunning, sapphire-blue companion”
All the astronomers, Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh were welcoming and helpful. There were activities for kids and a box of space related prizes, stickers, squishy stars, with a sign to take a few items. There was a planetarium show as well.
Driving down the hill through the woods in the dark was a bit gripping but we made it back to civilization. What a great star gazing party.
Saving a Turtle in the Road
We had left the pool and were going home
I didn’t really want to pick it up
but with the guidance of my friend Beverly on the cell phone and a grocery bag as a glove, I got it off the pavement onto the park’s grass. It had even crawled under my car!
Beverly’s husband Henry is the zoological expert and he identified the species from my pic A Red Ear Slider which I looked up and unfortunately is an invasive species due to pet releases.
