Buster Brown was winking

Mary and I were at Jack and Benny’s Old North Diner for breakfast in Columbus. The neon sign was actively winking. Here’s the history of Buster Brown Shoes, popularized at the 1904 World’s Fair. Yes, that’s his little dog Tige by his side.

My sister remembers the X-Ray Shoe Fitting Machine where she could see the bones of her feet. Click to read the story about that device. Yikes!

If you are looking into having a Bespoke Suit tailor made on Saville Row in London it takes six to eight weeks according to this GQ article note: “With a bespoke suit, a pattern is designed and made from scratch based on the client’s measurements, often from 20+ measurements involving multiple fittings, and takes considerably longer to produce than a made-to-measure garment. This ensures a precise fit, particularly in the shoulders as well as the posture areas” just no “cheap shoes”

Killer Heels Show at the Frick Art Museum- Pittsburgh

The other night my dear friends (and blog followers)Tookie and Jack, left two tickets for the Killer Heels Show in my mail basket.

Today my friend Vincie and I used them to see  the Killer Heels show right here in Pittsburgh.

We had the best time.

Here’s a gallery of Killer Heels and A link to the show Killer Heels Frick Art Museum and opening night party sounded pretty wild and fun. The show is there until September 4th. Post-Gazette story about opening party

You start by reading the history -men wore them first!

Did you ever watch Sex and the City?

Yes, that’s David Bowie wearing the shoes above!

Something for everyone……

Here is an old Post with Killer Heels tag after I saw the show in New York with my sister.

In this second post, I mentioned the Brooklyn Museum First Night December 2014 But I didn’t photograph any of the Killer Heels show then- maybe photography was not allowed?

Today I asked the guard if I could use my phone camera without flash and he said yes

The visitor center had a display case of Mrs. Frick’s shoes

Then we headed home.

Thanks Tookie and Jack.  We enjoyed ourselves tremendously.

The Sixth Generation of Wagner Shoes

People at Work Series.

Meet Mark Wagner.  The sixth generation of Wagner Shoes.

I needed some replacements for my tired shoes so I went to family owned Wagner’s on Butler Street.

(My mother said to never skimp on shoes, mattresses or tires)

I posted a blog about Wagner Shoes  since 1854 in Lawrenceville – October 2010

High Heels on Ice

Saturday morning, I did a model shoot and my fashionable client gave me permission to post her shoe photos.

It’s not always easy to get a perfect shoe shot.

We collaborate, experiment, try new things and these came out nicely.

I was sporting my Dansko Confetti clogs so marvel at the design of these fancy shoes.

She walks in them with ease and elegance.

One Shiny Shoe and a Good Thing I’d Eaten Dinner

My neighbors invited me to accompany them to the Carnegie Museum of Art for the opening reception of Storyteller: The Photographs of Duane Michals.   The exhibition was curated by Linda Benedict- Jones and is quite impressive, requiring a return visit to take the show in when it’s less crowded.

In the Hall of Sculpture after the remarks, i was standing on the lighted glass floor and so were three others. Our 4 pairs of  black shoes with the light coming from the floor below.

Photographer Martha Rial and I had our phones out, capturing the pattern.  I call it One Shiny Shoe.

When I got to the refreshments table there were a few grapes

Some of you saw this on FB already but here I am in the Hall of Architecture under the artwork “The Piano” by Chilean Artist Sebastian Errazuriz

I asked a random museum goer if he’d take my photo.  He’d already taken a selfie under the 800 pound piano.

When I showed this photo to the high school students, they said I was crazy to stand under it.  I said, wouldn’t it be funny to have a  tall ladder and some hedge clippers?  They groaned.

Mark said it looked like I was in a Looney Tune.
