Old Fashioned Pulley Clothesline from July 2011

A Throwback Thursday post

My friend Joan passed in 2023 but this is her old fashioned pulley clothesline (with a bag to hold the pins). The original post telling of the birthday dinner she made for me – Her clothesline jumped out at me and I thought of sheets hung on the line and how quickly things dry in the summer. The refreshing scent of the sunshine.

The same type of lilies in the 2011 post, the ones I photographed blooming in her garden, are opening up fully in my dining room this week in my birthday flowers bouquet

Old Fashioned Clothesline and Pins at the Baby Shower

What a cute idea.  Lara and Josie came up with it.  Lara was scouting around for clothesline at Target, no line but they had the pins.  Loew’s had the clothesline- but NO clothespins!

Look how the little onesies, tiny socks, toys and washcloths stretched out the length of the line!

Laura’s high school friend Celeste and mother Julie  hosted a lovely baby shower for Laura this afternoon.

Old Fashioned Pulley Clothesline-Lilies and Dinner

My friend J cooked a bday dinner for me the other night and I was checking out her garden. Everything so lush and green. Stunning lilies blooming. J shows me what is a weed and what is not. When she splits her perennials I will plant them in my garden. The plants might not be too happy about the move to my place, though. Her clothesline jumped out at me and I thought of sheets hung on the line and how quickly things dry in the summer. The refreshing scent of the sunshine. I didn’t stay late enough but when it gets dark she has a fish pond and glass orb that lights up so have to plan a return trip. J is an excellent cook, too as you can see by the dinner on the table below. A nice summer evening. Thanks J.
