My Mother in a Sheep Pen 1917

My mother in the hat on the the left with her brothers John on right and Robert in the middle.
. Durand Illinois. From my grandmothers album.

From my Grandmothers’s Album. More than 100 years ago.
These winter photos look similar to posts I’ve seen the last few days. No hand pump for water these days. But the snow looks familiar.

But who is in the middle? A neighbor, relative? Their grandmother? Not their mother.
I wish I knew. Maybe my cousins will be able to identify.

On the left my Aunt Edna and on the right her sister Charlotte, my maternal grandmother. The woman between is unidentified.
Durand Illinois c.1917

From my grandmother’s album.
At first I thought they were my grandparents, Judd and Charlotte VanSickle.
I don’t even know who owned the camera.
In or near Durand, Illinois. Early 1900’s

The indoors photo was placed in the album before the outdoors photo.
Previously posted on the blog, but I think it’s the same group of women. From my grandmother’s album. “Doris February 1916” ?

My son Mark found my mother Marian and her brother John in the photos. My mom was born in 1912 so this photo must be about 1914.
My Maternal Grandfather was born on September 4,1887.
Judd Dewitt Van Sickle. Durand, Illinois
John Christopher Van Sickle 1851–1927and Lucy Maria Judd Van Sickle 1850–1915 were his parents. He was the one of their seven children, to reach full adulthood, passing in 1975.
The inscription on the back of his baby photo is in my mother’s hand.
