Fun to be a Winner

Last month I read e-Books by the author Marie Force at Carnegie Public Library on their Libby app.

Force is the author of the McCarthy Family Saga Series on Gansett Island. A great escape.

Then I watched an Instagram live interview and I heard if you wrote a comment about what you do while reading, you’d be eligible to receive one of two copies of Force’s new book from publisher 1001darknights_blueboxpress.

I wrote that “I knit cozy socks while listening to audiobooks.”

And I won a copy of her new book! thank you Blue Box Press.

Fed Ex delivered it promptly and I’m going to read it this week.

Had to finish some current knitting projects, pumpkin hats and a few other projects.

Personal Poem by Artist Iz Horgan in Response to a Loss

I follow the Instagram account of artist Iz Horgan. She posted this on her link and I filled out the form about an object I’d lost in the late eighties. I wrote and asked for permission to post about her project and she graciously agreed.

Click the above link if you want to participate

And then in my snail mail box I received a personal poem on a postcard in response to my describing my lost object -a gold necklace with a band of tiny pearls holding the two ropes strands together

Here the poem Iz write and mailed to me

What a day brightener. Thank you Iz for your thoughtful response and your beautiful art postcard.

Airedale Duo on Guard

Henry and Josie anticipate Maura’s arrival, as she brings @perpetual_puppy_airedale  (AKA Scout) into the house on Saturday afternoon.
My Pandemic pup(pet) has entertained the grandchildren virtually but Saturday they got to meet him in real life. He’s got an Instagram account and I’ve photographed him and posted. Maura said to me -when I had him on Face Time – let me see him run around on the floor, show me both your hands!  He’s the best kind of pup for me, zero maintenance.
Four of the Grandkids, their mom and two real Airedales and were here this weekend for a quick 24 hour visit. I had not seen them in 3 months.

Die_Wollnerin in Berlin Live Video

This afternoon at Die_Wollnerin, (That’s the name to follow on Instagram)local yarn store in Berlin, a cool duo were filming a live Instagram video. I was able to send the video to some knitting friends in the states while it was happening. It’s up for another 19 hours. Yes it’s in German but look at the gorgeous yarn.

Meet Sabine Bornemann, owner of the Yarn Store Die Wollnerin and fabulous hand dyer of lovely colorful yarn.  Every time I visit Berlin, I stop by to visit and buy yarn souvenirs.

Here are the Instagram Live Video creators Diana and Stefanie  so much fun to meet them and watch the action  https://feierabendfrickeleien.com/

Light and Landscape Show Opening in the Cultural District

Photographer Joey Kennedy‘s solo show, presented by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, opened tonight at 709 Penn Avenue, directly across from the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts.

You may be familiar with Joey’s elegant wedding photography.

I met him at Silver Eye Center for Photography a few years ago when we were in a Self-Portrait show.  He has always been generous in answering photography questions.

Tonight Steve and I went to the wonderful and well attended opening and bought a print.  The prices on his prints and stretched canvas photos were affordable!  Familiar skylines and bridges in soft fog, Allegheny Cemetery scenes, trees and scupltured angels, the incline- just as the show is titled-  Light and Landscape

Followers who viewed his images made the selections for the exhibition AND the size of the printed photo was determined by which on got the most “likes”.

“Kennedy invites the public to participate in the exhibition’s image selection by visiting his Instagram account, instagram.com/joeykennedyphoto. Each image included in the exhibition is tagged #lightandlandscape.”

The good news is that the show is up until April 12th.
