Maura Texted a Night Pic

Granddaughter Maura (just turned ten) texted me a night photo of a Christmas house. For the blog!

Last night, after Steve and I grabbed a bite, we drove through a neighborhood in search of a few more photos to add to Maura’s.

It’s dark so early now as we approach that shortest day of light.

Here’s the house in Columbus Ohio that Maura sent.

Thanks for the good idea, Maura. What a lot of colorful decorations!

Below are a few Pittsburgh houses, mostly taken from the car except for the snowy animals. I had to get out.

Let it Glow at Phipps Conservatory

This evening Steve and  I went to the Holiday Dinner and the lights display Let it Glow at the Phipps Conservatory in Schenley Park. The food was good and there were flickering candles in glass lanterns lighting the curvy paths throughout the Conservatory. The winter lights in the darkness were festive and fun to see.

Illumination Deux

Today when I read the Retiring Sort’s blog post with the  beautiful Moravian Stars in NYC, I remembered a star display I photographed in January 2010. It was a block from West Penn Hospital on Friendship Avenue.  It was magical and they were suspended between several row houses’ yards. Not sure if they had them up this year or not.  This is a p.s. to the Weekly Photo Challenge.:Illumination.

Christmas House Lights at Night

Last year I used this house as my Christmas Card- From Not My House to Your House greeting.  Photographed it again last night, a year later. No snow this time, though. It appeals to me, even if it is over the top!

Last year a 24-70L Lens This year a 50-1.4LSeries ( Canon)
