It’s Been a While

Tuesday morning on the way to breakfast with my friend Vincie, spotted this couch on the curb. I pulled over in the next block, got out and took the photo.

She asked me what’s with the attraction of photographing the abandoned furniture? These discards?

It’s hard to explain in words but I can tell you they make me feel something.

I think if the furniture could speak, there would be many stories.

I realize they are inanimate objects, unwanted and worn out.

They can’t speak so I have to use my imagination of what they have seen and endured.

Pittsburgh and Columbus have the most couches at the curbs. Chairs, too.

Stroller at the Curb and the Grinch

Surprise Find by Granddaughter West Village NYC

It was Tuesday morning.

She was jumping up and down and made me close my eyes as she guided me out the front door of my sister’s apartment building. Close your eyes, close your eyes. She was breathless.

She was so excited.

I opened my eyes and there was a couch at the curb.

Abandoned furniture. A favorite for the collection.

What Charlie Found for the Blog

Look what Charlie spotted today.

He said to his mom that I’d love this!

Laura took the photo but Charlie found the abandoned furniture and he thought of me. A team effort.

I really appreciate the contribution to the blog today cause am feeling a strong lag from the six hour time difference.

Look What Mary Found!

At Bleecker and Morton Streets in NYC Monday, today. Mary texted me this discarded futon pic. Adding it to the abandoned furniture file. Thanks Mary. Wonder what I’ll blog tomorrow?

What I Found This Afternoon

It was a beautiful day. Day one of seriously trying to walk a good two miles. Everyday? that’s the plan. Laura said “No browsing or stopping to take a photograph! No dead couches!!!”

But there I was, pushing a stroller with my nine month old grandson Roy. And here’s what I found a few blocks after I started my walk. I could not resist.

Abandoned furniture, ready for pick-up. A couch AND a love seat.

3 Curb Finds Friday Night
