Conductor on the Platform through The “Pennsylvanian” Train Window

When you travel the route from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia and maybe onto New York, this conductor calls out the history of Horseshoe Curve  before the train approaches this landmark.   You look out the window, see the front end of the train across the way, just as he said.  Amazing!

Husks on the Front Porch Before Dinner

Oven fried chicken, red skinned mashed, zucchini, mixed greens with balsamic and olive oil, sliced peaches with a lemon squeezed on them, chocolate  Truffles from Betsy Ann Chocolates(courtesy of Vincie)and corn on the cob that James’ parents grew in Ohio, butter and salt and pepper.   It was a summer dinner. Two of my three grown children home accompanied by their significant other.  Happy mother.

Chinese Paper Lantern Launch Conneaut Beach Club

As the paper lanterns fill with hot air, they rise up to the sky and float away into the night.  Biodegradable.  Early hot air balloons.  The gathering crowd mesmerized by the sight.

Meyer the Hatter on St. Charles Street- Men’s Hats(2 photos)

The South’s largest hat store-Meyer the Hatter.  Every time I walked by I was drawn to it.  The display of hats triggered memories of my grandfather, my father, all sporting hats. And women wore hats, too, a little net veil with velvet dots, a pillbox with combs, a wide brim.  Just thinking about hats and who buys them, wears them now.  Hat boxes with a twisted thick cord to carry, stored high on a  closet shelf.  Who remembers hat-wearing?http://www.meyerthehatter.com/meyer/

Smoking Spot for Children’s Hospital

When I drive by this corner at Penn Ave  I see Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital employees on their break. They sit all along this high stone curb.  Read the sign behind.  I thought about taking photos of them smoking but seemed too intrusive.  Better to just see the location- unpeopled

Must answer fifteen questions for homework!

Who is my audience for this blog?

Brevity seems key.

Why blog?  Get the word out about my work, what’s new and “use time wisely” during time off from school.

Thinking about entering possible shows. One about all things mechanical and the other about childhood.  Submitted for the G20 exhibition.

Doing something with purpose seems essential.  OR why bother?

Are readers “blogged out”?
