Remembering the Combination Can Be Tricky

A six word Saturday post

Faded Signage Friday

Faded signage Friday. Today I was missing the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge. Not sure why WordPress  eliminated that weekly word prompt but I always liked coming up with an image or two to respond.  Decided I would create my own challenge for Friday.  I realize there are many photographers specializing in these ghost signs.  Hope I can find another one for next Friday.

Tower Viewer and Fog on the Allegheny River

This is the view from Butler Street, towards the Highland Park Bridge.  One of the 445 bridges of Pittsburgh.

You can’t see the Allegheny River due to the fog.

The metal view finder is reflecting the street lights.

Did you know the swiveling sightseeing view finder is actually called  TOWER VIEWER – coin operated binoculars ?

64 Degrees Today

Last the windchill a minus twenty.

I had to drive around the block to get in a safe location to take this picture.

The sign that was dangling from the crane was not separated as it was when I first saw it. You have to be safe.

Saturday Night at The Oaks Theater

Saturday night at the Oaks Theater in Oakmont, PA,

Steve and I went to see Groundhog Day (1993).

My friend Vincie said I’d really enjoy seeing it on the big screen and she was right. She told me how wonderful it was when she saw Casablanca in the theater compared to viewing on TV.

We sat in the front row with plenty of leg room and weren’t too close to the screen as there’s the stage between us. There was even a beer tasting happening in the front when we arrived. And a bar and food available, too.  Great audience reaction to seeing the skyline of Pittsburgh in the opening credits.  We had a fun night.

Filmed in Woodstock Illinois, my sister and I visited a few years ago on our way back from Rockford. You can see the house used as the bed and breakfast where Bill Murray stayed in the film  in this post from five years ago.

Groundhog Day at The Oaks Theater

Happy Groundhog Day.

My granddaughter Maura has predicted six more weeks of winter prior to Punxsutawney Phil the Groundhog.

We’ll know at sunrise if she’s right.

The movie starts at 7:30 PM at The Oaks Theater in Oakmont PA

Laura and Charlie called earlier to wish me a Happy Groundhog Eve.

You might remember my post of Woodstock Illinois where the movie was filmed or the post where Mary Laura and I ventured to Punxsutawney to see Phil at sunrise.
