My Sister’s Magical Trick

This photo was taken in NYC 2011 but in the mid fifties this teeny elephant assisted my sister in making me stop crying. She’d be in charge (babysitting) and I’d be sad my parents went out. She would make this elephant appear and then she’d make it fly away and disappear. I’m not sure how many times she repeated this act but I remember believing it was magic.

Don’t know who crocheted this little elephant

A Flowerpot Card in the Mail

Isn’t it fun to receive a happy surprise in your mailbox? My DIL’s mother created this fancy flowerpot card on her Cricut machine. Thanks, Marlene. You slide up the flowers and there’s a message written on the base. She actually made an accompanying easel to hold the card but I took the photo prior to discovering it in the envelope. It was sweet of her to remember me on Mother’s Day. We share four grandchildren.

And the Best Mom figurine? A treasured gift from years ago. ❤️

The items set up just above my kitchen sink.

Such delicate and colorful flowers in the flowerpot

Found Dried Corsage From Unknown Occasion

Found while cleaning.

Dried corsage from an unknown occasion. It was resting  inside an opaque ceramic lidded box. And now that I look at it, boutonnière seems a more apt description. But here’s the thing- Preserved to remember a special occasion?  A sentimental moment. And I’ve not a clue what it could be.

I’m certain other people wear the flowers for the occasion, remove them from their clothing, then slip them into the trash.

A six word Saturday

Eastern Redbud Blooms

My friend Ginny planted this tree in my backyard as a memorial to my parents.  When Spring comes, despite the low temps tonight, the buds cluster and bloom all along the branches.

It is a most beautiful tree.

Soon the heart shaped leaves will appear.
