Garden Colors

Bleeding heart

When I was going around my yard (after having been away for more than a week) I photographed all the flowers,

Was I surprised when I saw a baby deer, hidden in the bushes at the corner of my house. I learned that the mothers leave them and then return to get them. Steve saw a big deer in the backyard yesterday. I hope the little fawn got reunited with its mom.

The Hellebores are in Bloom

Photographed in different lights.

The same plant.

Hellebores are also named Lenten Roses

Pansies Say Spring

Downtown Pittsburgh. There are barrels along the sidewalk, filled with daffodils and pansies. Pansies. They don’t seem to mind the chilly temps this evening. I love the velvet petal faces.

Palm Desert Guest Blog

My friend Marianne in on vacation in Palm Desert, California. She sent these beautiful roses.

When she saw them, she said she thought of me. ❤️

Marianne M is guest blogger today.

We need some color to break up the winter gray!

Bringing Spring Inside

Our winter days in Pittsburgh are mostly cold and gray with spots of infrequent sun.

These efforts help counteract the dreariness.

This Week’s Colors

Find the Hummingbirds

The top and bottom photos are easy. There’s one in each photo.

Taken with the phone. They are fast but such a delight to see as I sat on my front porch this morning.

Cleome – Spider Flowers

Cleome, (an annual that sometimes self-seeds) in a neighbor’s yard

I thought it was pretty in a neighbor’s garden as we walked to the park.

When I researched it, the reports on the smell ranged from slight skunk-like, musty, strong- like citronella – I didn’t stick my nose in the blossom so didn’t notice any scent.
