From my friend and blog follower in Gainesville. Florida, Kristin F.
On Thursday a Mother owl by pool enclosure clearly distressed Friday morning -Baby owl crying, huddled by tree Called Wildlife Rescue We have an owl (or two) who live in the trees around our house. We hear them all the time. We have an obnoxious crow that has been stalking this owl now for over a week. Is the crow after the baby? That’s sad.Follow up….Wildlife Rescue came out. Used a wicker basket, put the baby back up in a tree. Mama watched the whole process. Stay tuned.Wildlife Rescue guy took this photo
I’ve driven by it many times but this morning I turned the corner and photographed it. Read the plaque. A ghost bike is a visible reminder to share the road with cyclists and drive more carefully.
William Theisen, a cyclist killed when struck by a car at Stanton Avenue and North St. Clair Street in Highland Park, is memorialized with this ghost bike.
In February 2020, I had seen a ghost bike in Gainesville, Florida while visiting friends. I was a passenger in the car so was able to take the photo as we drive by. Unfortunately I don’t know the name of the cyclist who is memorialized.

This airplane, Warbird, had just been a show near Washington D.C.
excerpt from her website
Warbird
This Navy plane was used by the US Navy from WWII to the end of the Vietnam War to train pilots and ground crews. When my husband join the Navy in 1970, he was in the last class of ground crew mechanics taught to maintain this engine. Today, she resides in Douglas Georgia with other retired War Birds.
This drawing was a challenge and it really pushed my skills.
“Warbird” has been accepted for the 2017 Colored Pencil International Show in Bethesda Md.
I bought notecards titled Night Riders, with these amazing bicycles on them.
My hosts drove us to the University of Florida Bat Houses to wait for the bats to fly out at dusk. WOW! They were something to see. Hard to focus as it was getting dark and they were flitting and flying.
And then as we stood there, a strong aroma filled the air. P- ewwww!
We watched the murmuration of bats in the sky. Thousands and thousands of bats. Creating dark clouds of undulating patterns. Off to eat insects until dawn.
