Look What’s Happening in Niceville Florida! Guest Blog

6:57 am update from Niceville adding to

Original post

“All done I think. Currently, 22° and 5 inches of snow that stopped about 11 PM last night. Most major roads are currently closed.

We had a snow sled that we bought at a yard sale about 30 years ago. At 22° outside, I am not planning on getting it out!  😁”

Unexpected text from a friend with this scene in Niceville, Florida!

Earlier it was 28 degrees and temp lower now

Almost 5 inches of snow and still accumulating. So glad we moved to Florida. A good day for soup and. . . . Homemade pumpkin bread! Your mom’s recipe. First time we’ve tried it and it is good!” Shuey

“Magnolia leaves are fairly large and collected quite a bit of snow until they shed it due to the weight. The end result is the driveway looks like the end of a snowball fight.” Shuey

It was almost 13 years ago that our family friend Shuey sent this wonderful photo of the Barred Owl and was guest blogger. It was the most viewed post that year!

Palm Desert Guest Blog

My friend Marianne in on vacation in Palm Desert, California. She sent these beautiful roses.

A few photos of parts of the estate we were allowed to snap photos.”

Bank Parking Lot Shot -Guest Blog

Blog follower and friend Andrew Wagner and I took some photography classes at Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild years ago. Gigapan is the one I remember the best. He has a terrific sense of humor. Andy is the guy who told me I’ve that my “blog was like a Kodak Carousel slide show- you never know what’s going to be next.” I felt complimented by his statement.

He sent me this photo from the bank parking lot. “freeze my account” he wrote.

Then he turned it and asked, “Does it look better if it looks like they are crawling uphill?”

I like both views.

How about you?

Thanks Andy for contributing a photo for today’s post.

Look What Charlie Found!

Saturday morning Laura said to Charlie (9)

Toy Hall of Fame Additions-Guest Blog

I received this nostalgic photo with two wonderful toys to the Toy Hall of Fame post from yesterday . Thank you blog follower Mary Kay M for the addition of these two noteworthy toys-Radio Flyer Wagon created by Antonio Pasin in 1917 and Lincoln Logs inducted in 1999 but created by John Lloyd Wright in 1916 the second son of Frank Lloyd Wright. –

There are a lot more toys to be documented but we’ve got a pretty good sampling now .

My Sister Prepares to Make Cranberry Relish

Mary sent me this photo.

Getting ready for Thanksgiving.

One year our Mother gave each of us a grinder. I use the good processor these days

Here’s a recipe for no-cook Cranberry Relish you want to use less sugar than this recipe though.

Two Colors in a Single Azalea Blossom -a guest blog

My friend Vincie suggested her cousin Gloria send me this unusual azalea blossom photo today. I can see why! It’s unique.

Two colors in a single blossom.

I looked up bicolor azaleas but they are not like this amazing blossom.

We’ve not had a hard frost yet and it’s been warm for November

If any of you gardeners have experienced this phenomenon, I hope you’ll comment below. Thanks

Thanks for sending this amazing photo of your two color blossom, Gloria. Good idea, Vincie.
