Anthrocon Parade 2024 in Pittsburgh PA

In 2010 I posted about the Furry Convention in town for the weekend (ANTHROCON CONVENTION)  and you can click on that Link to see the photo I took in a downtown hotel that has since changed names.

The other night we saw a few furries out and about the evening of the Fourth of July when we went to see the fireworks display.

But today for the first time Steve dropped us off at the train station and Prema and I walked a couple of blocks to the  Convention Center to watch the Anthrocon Parade.

On our way the nicest man named Casey asked if we would like a photo with him, he held his fur head in his hands.  Prema asked, “Do we have to pay?”  No we did not.

His character name is Zemine.  So kind of him to let Prema pose with him.  Did I mention it was about 87 degrees and 65 percent humidity?

We met some really nice parade attendees who let Prema get to the front so she could get high fives from the furry paws as they marched by. Prema also received some cool stickers from parade participants and also some bracelets of different colors.

A voice actor from Florida who had flown in to town was so helpful telling us about some of the characters as they approached. Two other welcoming Furries one dressed so perfectly as Isabelle from Animal Crossing and assisted by her friend the Animal Crossing Bag Carrier.  They were from Connecticut and generously gave Prema a yellow token with a star which I just looked up on google and it was called Animal Crossing Replica Bells from New Horizons.

These are the kind convention goers who allowed Prema to get in front of them.

Not sure what this expression meant. Tired of grandma taking pics?

Prema and I walked back to the train station and Steve picked us up.  Had to get home and frost some cupcakes for a party we were invited to.

We had the best time together but it was so hot and humid and we were wearing cotton T shirts, not full fur suits. We had to shower when we got home so we could go to the party.

and at the red light near home we saw these two at a bus stop.

It’s Spring Break at Grandma’s House for three of the grandkids.

I am fortunate to live in a city with so much to offer.

Photographing the Family at the Columbus International Auto Show

Photographing four kids together can be tricky and exasperating, trying to get everyone looking pleasant simultaneously.

The first photo is one solution. Take them from behind!

Seems easier with the distraction and props of shiny new cars at the Columbus Car Show.  Pretty good cooperation. Especially when they weren’t really thinking about me and my camera!   mustangListening to the finer points of this Mustang by Ford

Weekly Photo Challenge: Through

About number six on the list of definitions of the word through   – Having finished; at completion

Went to  Farm to Table Conference  (courtesy of Erin Hart, Thank You! and stay tuned for a post tomorrow highlighting the conference)

I ventured out onto the balcony to shoot the bridges, helicopters landing at Allegheny Hospital and the Allegheny River.  At the end of the balcony I found this receptacle filled with items – looked like the people were THROUGH – as in finished- the people who left their cigarettes and soft drinks and beer bottles were definitely THROUGH and they were probably not from the Raw Milk and Organic Fruits and Vegetables crowd.

Not a soul was out there lighting up. But everything seemed in a perfect place in the circle of the trash, an interesting composition.

And-

You know how I enjoy the idea of a garbageologist as a second career.  My mother always said, you can tell a lot about people by their garbage.

And when I turned to go back into the Convention Center, I looked through the window and saw these boys and two male figures, looking out through the windows to see  the Allegheny River.

The Railroad Bridge, plate glass windows, the Allegheny River and reflection. People staring through the windows.
