Early Sunday morning, Steve and I drove Mary to the train station. Our holiday travel together came to a close and she headed back to the city. New York, that is.
On the way home we stopped by La Prima Espresso in the Strip District on 21st Street. I waited in the car, anticipating that first sip. I photographed Steve carrying the coffee, as he exited the shop and posted the pic in an Instagram story, tagging La Prima.
Later in the day I received a message asking if they could use the photo and I agreed. Complimented that my photo evoked an “ Edward Hopper vibe” wow-
So today I received a delicious pound of Coffee and a souvenir mug as a thank you. That was really nice of you. Thank you La Prima Espresso.

In case you missed the photograph

Pandemic adjustments for serving La Prima Espresso customers delicious coffee.
I had my first cup since the beginning of 2020. You can’t go inside now but they’ve found a way to offer safe service.
The coffee as wonderful as ever!
Carrie, you would LOVE it!

Infinity, lost.
An infinity scarf. No beginning. No end. Have you knit one?
Found in Pittsburgh’s Strip District on top of a recycle can, as I parked Friday morning.
Penn Avenue.
Headed for La Prima Espresso for a delicious start to the day.
I didn’t touch it to determine if it was hand knit or determine fiber content but I felt sad when I saw it. The snow flakes caught on the stitches.

Usually you find a lone glove.
Colangelo’s Bakery and Cafe in the Strip District of Pittsburgh.
Sweet ricotta custard inside the flaky crust.
A two hundred mile ahead of me so getting a bold cup of coffee (and an almond mele) seemed a great start to the trip. The whole block was dark except for the welcoming neon and glass doors and window of La Prima Espresso and the neighboring bakery (Colangelo’s). A standing coffee bar with the best coffee in Pittsburgh. A thought of the day on a chalkboard, written in Italian. Italian TV playing above the barista making espresso, cappuccino, lattes. Fresh squeezed orange juice until 2 PM. You can see the newspaper outside on the sidewalk by the front doors.
One of the most recognizable scents
I remember when I didn’t even drink coffee.
A hot cup in my hand before dawn–
all is right with the world.
Especially if it from La Prima Espresso!
