In Memoriam- Bill Mazeroski

Bill Mazeroski -a Pittsburgh icon. His home run was what caused the Pirates to win the pennant in the 1960 World Series.

He passed on Friday at age 89. Here’s the NYTimes obituary

I made a post when the statue was unveiled.

The 99 year old photographer James Klingensmith was present at the ceremony by PNC Park. It was his photograph the artist Susan Wagner based her sculpture.

Binding Contract Statue – Guest Blog

I received this photo from long time friend Shuey this afternoon. He’s in Oklahoma. It’s in front of a bank,he says.

This bronze sculpture by artist Bradford J. Williams It’s in front of the Bank of Western Oklahoma in Woodward.

It symbolizes the handshake as a true meaning of a “Binding Contract” link

One of my favorite statues: Woodward, OK.

You might remember one of Shuey’s guest posts of a Barred Owl. That is is you’ve been following the blog eleven years! It is one of the most viewed posts on the blog’s existence, last time I checked.

Stone Eagle

There’s an eagle statue standing guard by the parking lot at the East Liberty Post Office parking lot.  He looks like he was once on a building. I tried to research his story but came up empty.

Mazeroski in Moonlight After the Gala

You now how I like to photograph the Bill Mazeroski statue down by PNC Park and the Allegheny River. The statue captures the moment he ran into home plate , winning the 1960 World Series for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

My dad was at that game.

Tonight the moon was out. Steve and I were on our way home from the National Kidney Gala at Heinz Field.  BTW the photo I donated went for a nice amount in the Silent Auction so that felt satisfying. Such a good organization. 80% of donations goes directly to the patients and their needs. The number of people with kidney disease is staggering. Attendees were incredibly generous especially when in a 10 minutes blitz they raised about $25,000.

Steve took this picture of me with Mill Firelight on the Mon.

One Night in Oslo

The Knitting Cruise ended Thursday morning and we took a bus to the Kirkenes Airport, dispersing to various destinations. I’m headed to Reykjavík via one night in Oslo. After supper I walked and walked around the city, realizing my time in Oslo is short.

Here’s my night gallery of Oslo.
