Every Single Dish Was Delicious

A tribute to a restaurant, La Cucina Flegrea– opened in the late ‘90s. now permanently closed. This print is when it was located on Murray Avenue in Squirrel Hill.

Rigatoni alla Vodka Spaghetti alla Rucola (Arugula) Tagliatelle Zucchini, and the soups!

Steve bought this print in Bloomfield years ago. It’s on my kitchen wall. I was thinking about all the delicious meals I had eaten over the years. My family celebrated my fiftieth birthday at this restaurant in 2002. I took a cooking class with Chef Anna Fevola in 2010 (click to see blog post)

Mementoes of a favorite restaurant, which has been closed a long time ago. Where every single dish was delicious!

Mildred Wirt Benson deserves Credit

Mildred Wirt Benson was sworn to secrecy and couldn’t reveal she had written the first twenty-three Nancy Drew Mysteries. there is no person Carolyn Keene! What?

Here are two Nancy Drew Mysteries in a Free Little Library in Columbus, Ohio.

Carolyn Keene was a pseudonym for ghostwriters of Nancy Drew Mysteries but Mildred Wirt Benson (1905-2022) wrote the first 23! (Click to read article)

Did you ever read a Nancy Drew mystery? Here’s another article about Carolyne Keene and the the syndicate behind the authors.

Misinformed, I guess

I always thought the ability to roll one’s tongue was genetic. Here are Aunt Laura and niece Anna from about 15 years ago, rolling their tongues.

But here’s an article debunking that myth!

Can you roll your tongue?

Another article why can’t some people roll their tongues?

Buster Brown was winking

Mary and I were at Jack and Benny’s Old North Diner for breakfast in Columbus. The neon sign was actively winking. Here’s the history of Buster Brown Shoes, popularized at the 1904 World’s Fair. Yes, that’s his little dog Tige by his side.

My sister remembers the X-Ray Shoe Fitting Machine where she could see the bones of her feet. Click to read the story about that device. Yikes!
