Scrabble Saturday Night

Charlie (9) beat me by almost 100 points.

We had a fun game.

I asked Laura if she had a Scrabble Dictionary and she said “No, but just Google it.” I was telling Charlie about the two and three letter word lists which are good to know.

Originally called Criss Cross, the game, which was based on the crossword puzzle and anagrams, was developed by Alfred M. Butts, an architect, in 1931. It was redesigned, renamed as Scrabble, and marketed by James Brunot in 1948. It was first sold in Great Britain in 1954.” Brittanica

It’s been a long time since I played Scrabble. How about you?

Conversation with Ernie

Ernie is a favorite.

Roy brings Ernie to life

Roy was behind the chair with Ernie doing some puppeteering.

Then they looked out the window.

My sister stitched Bert and Ernie in this crewel embroidery in the late 70’s which is now a pillow.

Happy 44th Birthday

November 20, 1980 was a snowy morning. We left home a little after 8 AM. The hospital was barely a block away from our house.

I was told oooops baby isn’t in a good position so you could be here all day.

Guess you heard that declaration, got into a good position, then everything happened fast? Guess you decided you’d surprise us.

You were born at 10:10 AM.

My mom came out to help.

Looking at this photo of my mom holding you, I realize my mother (68) is just 4 years younger than I am now.

Love to you on your birthday.

Love, Ma

Columbus Ohio Storms Beautiful Rainbows

My granddaughter Maura(15) sent me the first photo. She’d gotten out of her high school 90 minutes early, due to the tornado warnings. Their Spring break was last week as she lives in a suburb of Columbus.

My grandson Charlie (8) has Spring break this week, as he goes to the Columbus City Schools. He took this next photo with his tablet. My daughter Laura texted it to me.

Fortunately neither family experienced damage or loss of property as so many others in the state did from the serious storms.

Here’s another photo Maura took of the light in top half of the trees

What Charlie Found for the Blog

Look what Charlie spotted today.

He said to his mom that I’d love this!

Laura took the photo but Charlie found the abandoned furniture and he thought of me. A team effort.

I really appreciate the contribution to the blog today cause am feeling a strong lag from the six hour time difference.

Raccoon. They are pesky mammals even though they might look cute. Rummaging through garbage cans is their specialty. They can carry disease. Rabies. Raccoons are immortalized in cartoons and song.

My grandson Jack sent me this photo he took Saturday night. Raccoon in a tree

I thought of two raccoons in my house. A painted rock and a stuffed animal one.

I don’t think I’m a raccoon fan but I like these two
