Preparing Socks for Monkeys and the Front Porch Swing

The girls and I went to Aunt Lala’s today. Uncle James was at work.

Aunt Lala did the girls hair.

Then we hung out with Penny the Golden Doodle on the front porch and the girls loved the porch swing.

Anna and Penny traded bandanas and headbands. We had a relaxing summer afternoon.

Trying to not think about my return to school on Tuesday.

I used Laura’s sewing machine to stitch up the legs, arms and tails and now the two monkeys for Anna and her friend are ready to turn, stuff and stitch by hand. The socks were on Clearance for 93 cents at Target last year. I bought way too many thinking I would make a ton of monkeys.

Lala and Her Lap Dog

Happy Birthday Laura.

(Didn’t Erika coin your nickname, Lala? )

What is the definition of a “lap dog”?

A dog who is able to sit on your lap.

Penny is a lap dog.

You at the farm with husband James and his sister Kim and Penny, and niece Anna.

Everyone loves Aunt Lala.

Corny. But fun. A jump at the farm. Hope your birthday feels just like this.

I am so excited you are here in the Burgh. Good timing on the wedding weekend so you get to come to Pittsburgh.

I baked an Angel Food cake. Not sure why I did it in this Angel Food loaf pan this time. Looks a tad cracked on top.

You always called it CLOUD CAKE.

We’ll add some fresh berries and ice cream.

Without the shades this time. Thanks. love you lots.

Summer Porch Scene

Porch swing, rocker, wind chimes — Invitation to sit a spell, relax. Second day of summer.

Suzanne’s garden lush greens. Variegated. Giant Oak Leaf Hydrangeas blooming. Lamb’s Ear and Lavender border the steps. Ripening blueberries in the back. Seeing the latest projects and sharing details about family visits. Catching up with a good friend. What a lovely way to spend a summer afternoon.
