To Be Determined

WordPress Jen Hooks says “The past and the present might be open to interpretation, but are still constrained by the reality of what was and is. The future? It’s tremendously intangible, brimming with possibility.”

The future uncertain.

Coffee and Competition – Corona Café Austin Texas

My three friends and I were headed to a quilter’s studio to check out her hand dyed fabric (stay tuned) Anne needed REAL coffee.  Tucked away on Corona Drive in a mini strip of businesses was Corona Café

These two men were going to play disc golf but the rain kept them inside on Saturday morning.

“We felt like doing something competitive.”  So here they are in Corona Café playing Scrabble.

The barista made us excellent coffee.

Naiman was so nice.  I asked him about his name.  His father got it off the back of a car but it is a Mongolian warrior. He told us we could look it up.    Naiman

Washington Was Here!(me, too)

Zelienople Pennsylvania.

“George Washington passed through here on November 30, 1753”

Last Saturday I was on my way to Harmony.

Turns out my route was on Washington’s Trail. You can click the link and get the driving route for Western Pennsylvania.  I ended up on the trail by chance.

I just love the phone numbers on this sign.

In Harmony, Pennsylvania

IMG_3363Harmony – the weekly photo challenge.

I thought a report from Harmony, PA would make an interesting and different post.

Always seeking fresh blog content.

I was already out in my car and drove along the Ohio River without the the GPS.  When I put Harmony PA into Maps App I was taken first to the street signs at the bottom of this post.  Harmony, Pennsylvania is about 30+ miles north of the city, Pittsburgh.

Unfortunately the Harmony Museum was closed for the day by the time I got to town so will find a willing friend and return. (Preferably on a Spring day with some blue sky.)

I read they have a German Christmas Market, too. Views of Main Street and

We will have lunch at the Stohr Haus Bakery .

Have to plan to arrive at the right time, next time.

Steve and  I went to Harmony in March 2010 (blogpost at night)  for a poetry reading at the Bottlebrush Gallery

Today I shopped in the gallery- bought tea towels and a baby quilt.

Because I took a circuitous route, avoiding the interstate and driving the secondary roads, my phone GPS took me to 3 Harmony signs near the town of Baden, PA.  Unintentional but interesting to find three Harmony signs.

Received a great response from Harmony Museum Thanks Ruth!! A great time to visit us next would be June 11th. It is our Herb & Garden Fair (at our Harmonist Barn), Fiber Festival in town, and Springfest in town. Lots going on! Free shuttle between the barn and town. Food, entertainment, artists, demonstrations, so much to photograph that day! Starts at 9 am and runs until 3 pm, though the shops are open later than that!

Found Message at the Playground

Beneath Your Feet is the weekly photo challenge

Signage, written in chalk.  No one else around don’t know who wrote it on the pavement in from of the bench.

Sunday evening, we were at the playground with my two youngest grandchildren.  My sister Mary  is the one who pointed it out.

Of course, I had my cell phone to capture and share!  Didn’t walk on it. Just wondered who felt compelled to write it.

Unexpected Signage at East Exit Motel and Street View Google Car in an Alley

Be the Change SignWilliam Penn Highway on the way to the crafts store Pat Catan’s in Murraysville.

After I bought the couple of items I needed, I had to drive and turn around and come back so I could photograph this sign.  There’s a median in the middle of the road and LOTS of traffic so it was a bit of an effort but I knew I wouldn’t be this way again in the near future.

This location is near the Pennsylvania Turnpike Entrance/Exit.

The motel is old school in appearance and it would be nice to include the sign AND the motel itself but too dangerous to shoot from the highway itself so pulled into their parking lot. There was a lot of truck traffic.

Here is a slice of the motel taken out the passenger window.

East Exit Motel

And then later in the afternoon what did I see in my neighborhood?

A GOOGLE car with a big camera mounted the top, driving down an alley way off of Bryant Street.

Collecting images for Street View? Here is information on how the photos are turned into Street View.

I don’t know.  You can sure see them coming. By the time I got the camera to my eye they were going.

Headed in a different direction.

I wonder how much the camera costs that is on the top of the car? I looked up LIDAR camera technology.

Above view is the cropped version of the photograph below.

google car in alleyBy the way, that sky is a true blue sky which is rare in our city. They say we have just 59 sunny days a year.

Well, this was one of them.   Seriously hot, too.

Millbrae Way is the name of the alley shown and it’s near the historic marker of the Billy Eckstine home on Bryant Street. Born in 1914-Died- 1993.  I just went to look up his grave and he was cremated and ashes given to a family member. There are many famous graves in Pittsburgh.

How I went from the signage at the East Exit Motel, to Google camera car to famous people buried in Pittsburgh I’m not sure so will close and post.

Found this Sign in the Parking Lot

Thought it was a great idea.

Drivers today are so impatient.

It’s good to know that someone in front of you is learning how to drive.

A woman came out of the store and said.”Why is she taking a picture of my car?”

I told her I wanted to remember her good idea for when my grandchildren are learning to drive. I assured her I didn’t take her license plate number.

She said the sign on the car really works. We had a nice conversation about it.

So What Are You Supposed to Do?

You’re taking the same exit as the truck in front of you with the sign?

What do you do?

Roanoke Route 581  Photographed by Marlene with Erika driving. The truck exited the same direction they wanted to go.  They exited too!

Thanks for sending these Mar. Fun.IMG_5242

Pete’s Signs in the Roller Shades Department

I forget the number of the aisle at Home Depot. Thursday afternoon.

My sister was helping me get straightened up around here.  The family’s gathering in this weekend.

I was getting a couple of new shades for my bedroom windows. Make it private for my guests.

The shades had to be cut to size.

On the shelf below the shade cutter,  I saw these two signs and asked,

“Who made these signs?”

“Pete”

“Tell Pete they’re great!”

(BTW the customer service was super today! and no mistakes )
