Three Kings and Coffee with Friends

The three kings made it to the manger at my friends’ home. The Christmas/Epiphany spirit was still in full celebration this morning. What a lovely spread. I had coffee and cookies with milk poured from a cute cow pitcher. We caught up on our latest family adventures and remarked how quickly the grandchildren are growing.

It’s always good to enter a place where you are loved. Take time to connect with positive and kind friends.

Looks like I’m having coffee all by myself and now realize I should have made sure another cup was in view. This pic doesn’t tell the whole story.

There Were Years When My Decorations Stayed Up

There were years when my Christmas decorations stayed up in my front hall for months. The straw roofed manger on the dining room mantle ALL year with the olive wood figurines – the garland hung passed Epiphany, passed Chinese New Year, passed Groundhog’s, passed Valentine’s. Don’t think I ever added Easter eggs to the fake evergreen boughs in my front hallway, though.

So when I drove by this today (February 6th) I was reminded of my leaving holiday decor up long after the Christmas season.

Three Magi

From the archives. Three Magi. Apple boxes. Found the apple packing and storing company listing.

Was reading about the dismantling of the Christmas stuff at my son’s in Ohio and knew it was Twelfth Night and the end of Christmas. This photo came to mind. The three kings, Epiphany. Bearing gifts. Traveling so far.

These are the big wooden boxes used when the apples are picked in the orchard. You can see them stacked up in tall piles as you drive around this part of the country. You get a new appreciation for the effort it takes to grow fruit. These three apple boxes were just placed like this along the path where we’d walk the dogs.
