Wooden MIrror Reflections

At the Children’s Museum in October when the Grandkids were in Pittsburgh for a visit-

Yes, a WOODEN mirror.  It was amazing. Interactive art.

New Semester Starts Tomorrow – Serene Thoughts Tonight

Last gallery of Serenity as the challenge of the week will change Friday.

Rainee of All About Words blog was correct in her comment  “Isn’t it interesting how often water, nature, children and pets feature in Serenity? Might be something powerful to remember here”

Colorado Morning Serenity-Guest Blog

My Floridian friend Kristin is braving the elements and skiing in Colorado.

This is the view upon awakening.   She emailed it to me this morning.

I thought it fit in nicely with the theme of the week- serenity.

Thanks Kristin.   Was the world muffled?

(Almost looks like a black and white photo)

Colorado Morning

Peaceful, Calm, Untroubled- all sound good to me

Serenity – continued.  Finding photos to go with this week’s theme has been satisfying. Thanks for looking at today’s gallery of images that feel peaceful in a variety of ways.

Theme for my week- Serenity

Once you start looking for photographs in your archives that say “serenity”

-you think of more and you’re seeking the ones that make you feel calm and peaceful inside, just to look at them.

So you just go with it, like a raft on a gentle ocean wave.

Top Commenter Shares Link about the Serenity Prayer

If you follow the blog, you’ve seen Stef’s smiling gravatar and you’ve read her thoughtful comments.

She’s the author of Three Daily Delights blog.

This week’s theme is SERENITY and after looking at the gallery of photographs, Stef was prompted  to add this link in the comments yesterday. Although I’d heard and seen the prayer many times over the years, I learned a lot about the Serenity Prayer from reading it, I thought it was good to share. I always liked the line about the ‘wisdom to know the difference” Here is the link to the article 5 Timeless Truths From The Serenity Prayer That Offer Wisdom In The Modern Age

And the article is correct about almost everyone knowing the beginning of the prayer, but not the second part so much-

“Whether or not you believe in God or an afterlife, and whether or not the prayer’s ending — a vision of being “supremely happy with Him forever in the next” — appeals to you or not, there’s something universal in the prayer’s quiet celebration of understanding our own potential, our own limits, and our capacity for transcendence.”

Thanks Stef for sharing.

Brooklyn Museum First Night in December

My sister and I went to the Brooklyn Museum First Night in December.        (sponsored by TARGET, Stef)

When we were making our purchases in the gift shop, I saw the stacks of books Nails: The Story of the Modern Manicure and author Suzanne Shapiro graciously signing copies for people in line.

Many Dog People Favor Certain Breeds and Others Like a Mix

This is Brooke, a Dachshund Rescue.   I saw her in a basket in the Waterworkds Shopping Center at the PetCo a few years back and I knew my friend’s daughter wanted a dachshund. It was a lucky day.

She belongs to Molly now.  You can see how Brooke loves “her person”.

I know some of my cousins favor dachshunds and Mary in New Jersey loves them.

Molly’s family always has liked this breed. I saw a crazy video of dachshunds on a Sausage Dogs Central Post on FB just last week.

Now my DIL and her family love Airedales.  Jaclyn has her St. Bernards.   One type of dog I don’t see around here is an Irish Setter.  Be it Border Collies or Italian Greyhounds, German Shepherds or a Pug or you name it.  People who are dog people may have a strong preference.  ( Rob, I know what your preference is!  NO DOG)

Some families like to get a mixed breed rescue (we used to call them mutts but maybe that isn’t the term now) from an animal shelter.

I usually keep the blog in “real time” but the rose colored couch is highlighted again this week.

BTW there are “339 listed breeds in 10 groups” and if you want to check out that info it is here

One of the first images I captured with the new mirrorless camera when I was out in Ohio with the family for Christmas.

Granddaughter Anna with the reflected light from an iPad, no other light.
