Barry Manilow or R.E.M. ?

There are other choices and next time I’m meeting my friend for breakfast, I’m bringing quarters.

Ritter’s Diner on Baum Boulevard has a jukebox at every table.

Coffee and a jukebox

We had a couple of eggs over easy, some home fries and toast. Love a diner breakfast.

Hänchen-schnitzel, Mashed Potatoes, Asparagus with Mushroom Gravy

dc I know mushrooms are your kryptonite, apologies

Steve asked me to go down to the Fireside Public House when he got home from work.

Thursday night the burgers are ten bucks. Sure, I’ll go, not cook.

The chalkboard said Burger $10 but there was a little card inside the menu that said Monthly Special

Hänchen-schnitzel with mashed potatoes, asparagus and mushroom gravy.

It was a very satisfying meal.

Yes, Oct 16th is Feral Cat Day

Oct 16th is Feral Cat Day. Click for information about this organization Alley Cat Allies

Bob is our 17 year old feral cat. He doesn’t have a tail. Granddaughter Anna named him.

He’s really Steve’s cat as he has fed and watered him all this time. I’ve pitched in on occasion but Steve had dedicated himself to his care.

Here’s Bob the Cat. Steve takes such good care of him. I’m certain that’s why he’s lived so long.

It’s a long story but we were able to catch, fix and release two young cats years ago. Our 90 year old neighbor had cats who were fertile and she moved to an assisted living home but the cats remained next door.

This is a from 2017. Bob lets Steve pick him up sometimes. Here they are the front porch

Wordless Wednesday (sort of)

Delicious Grilled cheese and Tomato Basil Soup at Wunderbar in Bellevue- Opening Day

While we were eating it looked like hail was bouncing on the street. People got up to go look out the door.

Tonight the weather man on tv said “it wasn’t hail, it was graupel”. Looked like hail to me. No damage to the car though.

How Stuff Works says “

What’s the difference between hail and graupel?

“Hail consists of hard, solid balls of ice that form in strong thunderstorm updrafts, growing as they ascend and descend repeatedly, collecting layers of ice. Graupel is softer and forms when snowflakes collect and freeze supercooled water droplets, resulting in small, frosty pellets”. How Stuff Works

I know I said wordless Wednesday but ooops……

Fun to be a Winner

Last month I read e-Books by the author Marie Force at Carnegie Public Library on their Libby app.

Force is the author of the McCarthy Family Saga Series on Gansett Island. A great escape.

Then I watched an Instagram live interview and I heard if you wrote a comment about what you do while reading, you’d be eligible to receive one of two copies of Force’s new book from publisher 1001darknights_blueboxpress.

I wrote that “I knit cozy socks while listening to audiobooks.”

And I won a copy of her new book! thank you Blue Box Press.

Fed Ex delivered it promptly and I’m going to read it this week.

Had to finish some current knitting projects, pumpkin hats and a few other projects.

Mazeroski Day in Pittsburgh

Bill Mazeroski made baseball history October 13, 1960. My dad was at that game.

Here’s an article by Lauren Davidson about Bill Mazeroski hitting the homerun that made the Pittsburgh Pirates win the World Series.

October 13th is known as Bill Mazeroski Day in Pittsburgh.
