Anthrocon Parade 2024 in Pittsburgh PA

In 2010 I posted about the Furry Convention in town for the weekend (ANTHROCON CONVENTION)  and you can click on that Link to see the photo I took in a downtown hotel that has since changed names.

The other night we saw a few furries out and about the evening of the Fourth of July when we went to see the fireworks display.

But today for the first time Steve dropped us off at the train station and Prema and I walked a couple of blocks to the  Convention Center to watch the Anthrocon Parade.

Here’s a 1:44 sec video of the parade and Prema gets a high five! Click link

On our way the nicest man named Casey asked if we would like a photo with him, he held his fur head in his hands.  Prema asked, “Do we have to pay?”  No we did not.

His character name is Zemine.  So kind of him to let Prema pose with him.  Did I mention it was about 87 degrees and 65 percent humidity?

We met some really nice parade attendees who let Prema get to the front so she could get high fives from the furry paws as they marched by. Prema also received some cool stickers from parade participants and also some bracelets of different colors.

A voice actor from Florida who had flown in to town was so helpful telling us about some of the characters as they approached. Two other welcoming Furries one dressed so perfectly as Isabelle from Animal Crossing and assisted by her friend the Animal Crossing Bag Carrier.  They were from Connecticut and generously gave Prema a yellow token with a star which I just looked up on google and it was called Animal Crossing Replica Bells from New Horizons.

These are the kind convention goers who allowed Prema to get in front of them.

Not sure what this expression meant. Tired of grandma taking pics?

Prema and I walked back to the train station and Steve picked us up.  Had to get home and frost some cupcakes for a party we were invited to.

We had the best time together but it was so hot and humid and we were wearing cotton T shirts, not full fur suits. We had to shower when we got home so we could go to the party.

and at the red light near home we saw these two at a bus stop.

Bob, The Feral Cat, at Home

My sister Mary started this by photographing Bob’s new home on our front porch.

I went out tonight and captured the lights on Bob’s tree
Steve just took this photo. He’s not in the house but looks like he’s waiting for something.
Steve was able to get a photo of Bob peeking out of his home

Bob has his name, thanks to granddaughter Anna. Bob has no tail since birth. And he is fifteen years old which is way beyond normal life expectancy for a feral cat. He’s well cared for by Cat Daddy Steve.

Laura got that cat wreath for Steve at a church festival years ago. Believe it not, Bob has a handknit wool shawl inside this little cat home. There’s also capability for heat but it’s not cold enough yet.

Bob is ready for Christmas. we didn’t want to traumatize him by trying to entice him inside for the shoot

My sister helped me out by sending me this fun photo today. Thanks Mary

Horse Drawn Hearse at Allegheny Cemetery

Driving back from town I went past Allegheny Cemetery. I saw the horses and the white carriage. Their job was finished as the horses were being unhitched and loaded into the open trailer. A horse drawn hearse isn’t a sight you see often in this century. Here is the website for the horses

Reminiscent of Victorian Times

Giant Rabbit Art

Rabbit Art in Downtown Pittsburgh.

When Steve came home from work we drove down to 8th and Penn Avenue to see the fifty-foot inflatable rabbit, part of the Intrude Installation . It wasn’t there!

We found the three smaller Rabbits on 7th Avenue. A person protecting the display was able to tell me why the fifty-foot rabbit wasn’t to be found. I discovered they check the wind and so the fifty- foot rabbit had been deflated to keep it safe.

Here are the rabbits I did see. by Australian Artist Amanda Parer
