My neighbor Sue gave me the Iris a couple of years ago. They are so beautiful. I worried the strong rain would beat them to the ground, that the blossoms would crumple. They stood tall. The petals like velvet.

I needed new tires so I drove to Laurel Gardens Tire Service
Knit a bit on a sock but the wait wasn’t too long.
Look at the fun display on the counter.
An aquarium without fish! But all the items they have fished out of tires. Some very Big Tires. What a collection. Besides screws and nails I saw a part of a pair of scissors.!
And it’s Tina who is responsible for the creative idea, although some of the guys tease and claim it was their idea!

Here’s a quick video of my knitting and the game show on tv snd a great painting by an artist named Rita who painted North Hills businesses and just gave the paintings to the business years ago. I was able to find the artist’s name as Tina said she had painted Isaly’s, too. Here’s what I found “
Although her art is not mentioned in her obituary linked here it has to be
Rita Putnak-Kusenko who painted iconic Pittsburgh scenes, including the Isaly’s Dairy Store at North Hills Village in May1957. Her work is known for capturing local North Hills small businesses and nostalgic, familiar scenes, reflecting the neighborhood charm of the area. She is remembered for documenting local scenes in this way.

Blog follower and friend Kristin F wrote today sending photos of these giant Trolls sculptures in the North Carolina woods.
The artist is Thomas Dambo from Denmark.
“…Large Outdoor park(Dorothea Dix• Park Raleigh North Carolina ) with wooden sculptures made with repurposed wood meant to fade with the passage of time.”
Kristin F. Says “I wanted to comment…they weren’t scary at all…on the contrary, they were all quite calming…especially finding them in the woods.”
*“Dorothea Lynde Dix was a 19th century reformer and advocate for the mentally ill and imprisoned. Her tireless efforts to expose inhumane conditions and champion humane standards led to the establishment of over 30 hospitals in the US and Europe.”

I heard about this method of cooking eggs so they don’t stick to the pan.

1. Heat your pan

2. Heat your fat (olive oil and butter)

3. Pour in beaten eggs (one minute video I filmed) click to watch

In 2011 I started a blog of Throwback Recipes. I didn’t check the dates to see how long I kept it up but it was short lived.
Here’s an example of a post. My mother’s Chocolate Pound Cake Recipe
Last week at the Community Center I saw an old cookbook on the “Free Table” so I brought it home and found a handwritten recipe and a newspaper clipping and had fun going through the pages. It was from Lake Charles. Louisiana first printing in 1965
