First leg of our journey complete.
Mary and I made it to Okanogan via Seattle and Wenatchee Washington to be with our brother David and his wife Carolee.
It’s a long way from New York City. We got diverted to Minneapolis for a couple of hours but we were fortunate to make our connections. A little more excitement than we needed.
Here’s the article about what happened on our way to Seattle. Alaska Air couldn’t have been nicer to us.

Not certain that’s a word, deicing,de-icing but before Pittsburgh takeoff, a team sprayed down the plane.
Flying in January can be feel iffy in northern climes.
The beginning of my midwinter break last week. Preparing to leave winter for a lovely warm week, part one. Grateful for the crew who deiced the plane!
Looking up into the skylight, I saw this very interesting sculpture during my layover enroute to Florida. It’s made with plastic SOLO cups.
I read there are three other skylight art installations but I am returning through Baltimore.
Set alarm about 3:30 AM to catch a 6:25 flight to Nashville, connecting four hours later to Panama City FL.

Marlene sent a video of the family singing Happy Birthday and I was missing being with them but
Erin baked a beautiful birthday cake, it some candles and my friend’s family sanga again. Very nice.

Fourth of July Birthday is fun. Then the Daily Post said, how do you celebrate July Fourth and I had already posted this one showing my actual birthday cake.
Weekly Photo Challenge: It’s Your Party
They are everywhere.
As far as the eye can see.
Bluebonnet wildflowers. Beautiful color of blue, the Lupinus Texensis is the state flower of Texas.
I photographed (70-200 Canon L series lens) the wildflowers on the way to the San Antonio airport last Sunday.
Was NOT the driver of the rental van but the passenger. (Thanks Rick) Figure we were going about 70 mph so the blue is a bit of a blur.
Confratute at UCONN completed and we went to catch our plane to Cleveland, in route to Pittsburgh. At the Bradley Airport, Hartford CT, a circle of students (who had just completed ARIA International Summer Academy at Mt. Holyoke college) caught my ear, first! Then my eye. Clearly skilled! I asked if I could photograph them for the blog even though our plane was starting to board. A lovely unexpected performance. Sitting in airports can be tedious but not today. Thinking about how live music enhances emotion. Touches us. Turns out I had just missed their rendition of Star Wars. Bummer. They were all headed different directions. Teachers would check the comment box, “uses time wisely”.
