Artist HELÈNE AYLON February 4, 1931 – April 6, 2020

In 2011 I had the privilege to meet and escort artist HELÈNE AYLON to her exhibition being shown at the Andy Warhol Museum. She gave me a signed parchment scroll which I photographed today April 7, 2020 scroll down to see it.

ARTIST HELÈNE AYLON AT THE WARHOL MUSEUM

I asked Ms. Aylon  if  I might take her picture (with my iPhone these days)  and she graciously agreed.  Then she suggested we take one under the portrait of Julia Warhol, Andy’s mother.  It was Mother’s Day.

Her exhibit The Word of God: Helène Aylon, The Liberation of G-d and The Unmentionable runs through June 26th

Here’s a Pittsburgh montage.  Knowing when to stop digging in the archives is the problem but it’s one AM so we’ll start with this gallery tonight.

TOUR GUIDE

Friday Night on the North Side

Friday after he got home from work, Steve asked me to go to the Andy Warhol Museum, use our museum memberships.  We always say we are going to go to one of the museums every month and although I went with the grandkids to the Carnegie Science Center twice recently and the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, he and I have not kept up with our plan.  Four museums in one membership is a great deal but you have to utilize it!    Tonight we were remembering going the night the Warhol  opened in 1994. We had a beer and sat on the couch, a nice man offered to take our photo as he saw me struggle with a selfie attempt. We took a walk to the river after our visit.

Grid gallery.  From the archives.  Once you start looking, it’s surprising to see how many grids present themselves. Seems I lean to shooting through chain link fencing.

After Midnight at the Andy Warhol Museum 20 Year Gala

The $500 a plate crowd started at 6PM but after midnight it was fair game for the public.  Steve and I went to the opening of the Andy Warhol Museum twenty years ago, remembered a line around the block, waiting.  A bar across the street which is no longer there, where Eddie and Christine put on the finishing touches of his outfit and hair for the parade.  Christine used to cut our hair in the Fulton Buiding, long before it was Heaven and now the Renaissance Hotel.

Where did twenty years go?

So we thought we’d slip down and check it out.  See what the beautiful people are up to in the Burgh Saturday night.
