I’m Knitting as Fast as I Can

We’re down to less than six full days before the 25th. Should I title this post Procrastination is an Art Form? Last year I gave my son-in-law a box of balls of yarn. He asked for a sweater. I’ve inflicted my hand knitted gifts on numerous unsuspecting recipients so when I get a specific request, it’s a thrill. My one son said”Ma, I think we’ve got enough hats.”

To blog it not to blog last night? Priorities? I’m getting three grandkids as houseguests starting today. I can’t knit a patten where I have to check the chart and the count very well while hostessing . Mindless knitting I can do in the company of others.

So it’s crunch time. I was determined to finish those sleeves before I went to sleep. Phew. I’m pretty sure one is a bit wider than the other.

James will get this sweater by Christmas. It can’t be in pieces. Joanne told me how to cast on the fronts and back and knit all at the same time so no side seams.

Plus, I’m headed to photograph the house moving adventure.

Will I make it? Stay tuned

Did I mention I’ve one full ball of yarn left?

The color is called “concrete ”

It’s time to play Yarn Chicken, too.

A Knitting Themed Tea Cozy and San Pasqual Patron Saint of Cooks

Returned to Pittsburgh this evening and a package of Christmas gifts from J in Omaha, awaited me.

She stitched a bright colored tea cozy to keep the tea warm as it steeps.

Love the colors and knitting theme as many of you know I’ve been knitting my way through the winter.

I need a patron saint in the kitchen and will put him in a prominent place in the morning.

Thanks J. What a fun surprise.

Making Good Use of the Grapefruit Knife

The last of the Christmas gifts of fruit.

Starting the day off with refreshing citrus-  Ruby Red Grapefruit from Texas.

I don’t use it often, but dug out the old grapefruit knife to loosen the sections. The best part is squeezing all the juice into the spoon at the end.

Slurp!

Proud to be Born in Florida

(Blog follower and Floridian friend Kristin, my guest blogger the other day with with gators on Christmas, is going to enjoy this photograph)

Michael is the only grandchild born in Florida and he’s proud of it.

I was fortunate he was an August baby and I hadn’t started back to school yet so I was on the scene to take care of big sister Anna when Mom and Dad went to the hospital.

The family has a Pittsburgher, two Buckeyes and a Floridian.

This Christmas Santa helped Michael get the proper gear to represent The University Florida Gators.

No one else in Columbus Ohio is sporting these colors around town.  They’re all in scarlet and gray, right Rob?

What is your team?
