What is the difference between hotdish and casserole?

Definition: Casserole is the name of the dish used to cook with, whereas hot dish is the meal itself. Ingredients: Casseroles can contain any ingredients under the sun practically, where hot dishes have set ingredients they have to have.

Near Berrydale – Florida Highway 4 Guest Blog

Tuesday I received a Happy New Year email with this note.

You might remember Shuey’s well viewed Barred Owl Post from March 2012

Shuey writes:

“It’s been awhile since I’ve seen something in this category that was worth a U-turn and a stop.

I spotted this one while returning on a rainy day from “The Last Ride of the Year” which I go to every year to see some of my long distance riding friends. I was between rain clouds and the contrasts of light and shadow really caught my eye. Not in the picture, but off to the right, set much further back from the road, was a nice double-wide trailer. I’m guessing this building was the original family homestead now abandoned with a descendent family still living on the property. Whether this old house is kept for the memories or it’s just to expensive to tear down . . . who knows. Definitely worth a stop. I’ll bet this building could tell a story or two if it could talk.”

Sandhill Cranes -Guest Blog

the Sandhill Cranes –Antigone canadensis

They have a nest behind our site. The female and male take turns sitting on the nest. They walk around the campground checking everyone out. The other day I missed a great photo when an alligator swam over to the nest. The male Sandhill poked the alligator with his beak and the alligator swam off. Notice the red eyes they have. The male is a few inches taller then the female but hard tell when they are not together.

Sand Hill Cranes like to look at themselves in our bumper.

Tea Bag Art

Joanne painted this tea bag art and created a greeting card for my July 4th birthday.

My friend Joanne, belongs to an artists’ group in St. Augustine, Florida, -Cafe Sketchers

“Mary Ann Miller is the leader . Our group is the Cafe Sketchers and the blog is Sketching in Provence as a group of them went a few years ago…
We meet at a different cafe each time and sketch and eat. Lately we meet via zoom and share what we’re working on.” Joanne writes

The Sketchers in Provence founder, Mary Ann’s blog post says….

“the idea was to use a teabag in a sketch/painting/print in any way you desired. Ideas included painting directly on dried and emptied teabags (inspired by New York artist Ruby Silvious), printing with the wet bag and making something out of that shape, painting with tea or painting a picture of a teacup. I used tea to dye unbleached muslin to cover my T-Doodles books”
