Penny the Golden Doodle ate Charlie’s Animal Cracker During the Family Photo

It was time for Grandma  (AKA Froo Froo Ruthie) to go home.

My car was packed and I’d left Mark and Erika’s house to head to James and Laura’s house.  About a twenty minute drive. Had to drop off the cast iron griddle gift left by the couch.

Drive back to Pittsburgh.

The one thing I didn’t really do on Christmas day was take any photos. It’s hard to be a participant AND a photographer simultaneously.

It can interfere with your living in the moment and enjoying those you are surrounded by. A camera can be a barrier, a distraction, an annoyance to others- sometimes I’m unobtrusive and candid and they ignore me…..but I said to James and Laura I was leaving and the one thing I didn’t get was a family photo of them at Christmas.  And I’d really like to get one of their family I’d gotten Mark and his family on Christmas eve in the usual spot after church.

Okay, get Penny a milkbone biscuit.  And Charles got an animal cracker/cookie.

Bribery. This group family photo will just take a sec, a little tasty bribe…..  OOPS

Penny’s nose was right at the level of Charlie’s animal cracker.GULP.  One big bite for Penny. And in the second photo you can see how  Charlie felt about losing his snack.img_1488

img_1489We’ll get that family photo another visit. Thanks for letting me try.

Crazy Fun- Mermaid Tails, Sharks and Karaoke, Xmas Sweater Selfie and Family!

Froo Froo Marlene has been crocheting for months. Hand work takes time

Her efforts paid off though cause the grandkids (who all swim for Ohio State Swim Club)  were excited to receive their aquatic afghan sleeves. Marlene also created some photo books for each grandchild too, and I got a creative magnet and mug with all the grandchildren featured!

She made one for Baby Charlie, too.  Here he is being swallowed up by his Jaws blanket!

PapPap picked out the wild and crazy SingTrix Karaoke Machine (as seen on Shark Tank, too) It provided a lot of entertainment and everyone wanted a turn.  Pap Pap’s rendition of Elvis’ Love Me Tender is still at number one for the performances.

A very merry Christmas and I just read the Weekly Photo Challenge is NOW

Now

Sometimes, we get caught up in nostalgia, future fantasy, or both, and we don’t embrace the “now.” For this week’s challenge, take a moment to notice your present, and share a photo of it.

If you are a crocheter and want the link to the patterns, I’ll get them from Grandma Marlene in the morning

Cabin Fever? Toss Stuffed Animals in the Air, Practice Motion Photography as the Kids Catch Them

It was Jack’s idea.  Take a picture of him tossing his sock monkey in the air.

This weekend I got to be a useful grandma and help watch the younger 3 grandkids while Anna and her mom went to Cincinnati to a swim meet.

The bonus is I got to practice photography-   catch motion, suffed animal mid-air, press the shutter, experiment with the new SONY mirrorless camera.   Get a sense of the timing.

The kids were in jammies and ready for bed.

But hey, let’s throw stuffed animals in the air!  Maura got the groundhog up and  his shadow appeared on the wall!

The House is Quiet

The four grandchildren were here since Thursday night and their mom and dad went to a wedding in Philly this weekend.

We had a nice time together and the house is feeling pretty empty now.

Today they watched Steve remove a dead squirrel out of the fireplace and take it outside.   Michael said, “You’ve got an animal in your fire pit.”

Thank goodness for the glass doors. Guess that screen on top of the chimney came off!

Getting Ready for a Couple of Houseguests

My DIL called last night and asked if the boys could stay at Grandma’s house this weekend when the family comes in town for the big wedding.

Since their sisters are flower girl and junior bridesmaid the others will be very busy.

I’ve pulled out the PLAYMOBIL and LEGO and the little indoor tent. Stocking some of their favorite things to eat. Gearing up for company.

Tomorrow at school three classes taking finals  and then I have to read and grade them but at 2:44, I’ll be out the school door and headed to pick up my two grandsons for the weekend at my house. Very exciting.

Grandma and the Grammy Winner

That’s what the nice man said as he took the picture of V and me with Honorary Chair of Art For Change– Broadway singer/actor Kinky Boots Billy Porter!

He’s won a Tony award for Best Musical Actor 2013!
Mr. Porter got the crowd riled up at the beginning of the night, getting a Kinky Boots NYC package sold for ten thousand dollars. It was a fun time.

We were at the Art For Change Art Auction at the Wyndham Grand Hotel Monday Night. The proceeds benefit the PERSAD Center
I donated a photograph for the auction and bought one to bring home, too!

Mr. Billy Porter is a Pittsburgh Public Schools CAPA(Creative and Performing Arts) Alum!
