Not going out much those days

IKEA’s Pressa Hanging Dryer Surprise…

Along with chocolate-filled heart-shaped cookies, a box of delicious tea and other sundries.

My friend Joanne shipped a surprise box to me a few days ago and look what was inside.

An Octopus with 8 folding arms and 16 clips – a hanging dryer called Pressa from IKEA.

Look how perfectly it holds my handknit socks. It even matches my bathroom tile.

Thank you for the lovely gifts, Joanne. A fun surprise.

Baby Roy Examines My Scrappy Sock

Six months old and checking for a dropped stitch?

Unraveling

A piece of knitting that’s taken hours to achieve a length, can be returned to a ball of yarn in no time at all.

Ten hours of knitting? Can be undone in less than two minutes! But if it’s necessary? Wrong size, a mistake, wrong gauge, disappointing fabric, the wrong needle and/ or wrong stitch count.

My problem was I cast on 72 stitches for one sock then promptly forgot that I did so on the second. I cast on 64 stitches, my usual number. Rip, rip, rip! 8 stitches make a difference, in this case an inch in the circumference. You want matching socks. You NEED them to match as best you can . To fit! One thing I’ve learned is it will not remedy itself if you keep going. Face it! And rip. Carefully.

You just grit your teeth and do it. don’t think too much. No groaning.

There. It’s back to a ball of yarn. Now go cast on the correct number snd reknit. About ten hours worth of knitting. Love this handdyed yarn from Knittinbro Yarns of Pennsylvania.

Sock Drawer

This is a photo of my daughter Laura’s sock drawer. She texted it to me. She knew it would make me happy.

Why?

Because I knit them for her. You’ve seen the Good and Plenty and Wonder Woman featured on the blog and the yarn her husband James bought on a business trip in Seattle. The colors of flowers at Pike Market. I see some Alaskan yarn too.

When she told me she loved wearing the hand knit socks, I felt motivated to knit more.

Wash Separately Even After Six Years

Wash separately even after six years. My six word Saturday post.

These are handknit socks I made at least six years ago and they still turn the water pink every time.

When I was a kid, my mother called a red flannel nightgown that bled in the wash “a sinner”.

Have you ever had a laundry disaster with a color item that ran onto light items?

Knitting, of course.   The Weekly Photo Challenge created by Krista Stevens

“How would you fill in the blank?”    I’d Rather Be…

If given the choice, what would you rather be doing, right now?

So many possibilities.

I was knitting at a friend’s home, Finishing up these PairPerfect Socks.  The Regia yarn 75% wool 25% nylon designed by Arne and Carlos is dyed so it turns out looking like you really did something fancy.  You get two identical socks, knit from the top down.  When the colors change, you go on to the next step.  It falls into almost mindless knitting category.
