Buttermilk in Blueberry Muffins

Baking with buttermilk creates delicious results. I used the Best Ever Blueberry Muffins recipe with buttermilk but reduced the sugar to 1/2 cup.

And I used 1/2 c of melted butter instead of canola oil. No butter necessary on the muffin. It’s already inside. The house smells so good when they are baking.

They tasted good.

Polish Pottery Holds Warm Blueberry Muffins

My friend J in Florida sent the blue star studded Polish pottery dish for my Fourth of July birthday.

My friend J in Pittsburgh baked blueberry muffins Sunday morning and brought them to my front porch to go with scrambled eggs.

My friend V will wonder what happened to my plan to post a whole week of bridges.

The Story of the Flag Dishes

My friend J found these dishes in a kitchen consignment store in Omaha-The Pot and Ladle.

J had them  packed and moved with her when she relocated to Florida.

And then she wrapped them in bubble wrap and  packed them herself in about eight boxes and shipped them to me in Pittsburgh.

When your birthday is the Fourth of July, people see red white and blue and think of you.

Last night I had house guests so got up and baked blueberry muffins with a container of greek yogurt (vanilla) and used one of the American Colonial plates (designed by Warren Kimble in 1997) When I looked up Warren Kimble it said he is “the best known living American Folk Artist”

(noticed I used the red, white and blue potholder I wove a few years ago)

Drive Thru Coffee Arriving in Pittsburgh at 6:30 AM 10-16-14

Different parts of the country have Drive Thru coffee all over the place. Not Pittsburgh! Until NOW.

My plan is to be at the new Zeke’s, close to opening,  on my way to school

A good way to start a very long day- Parent conferences/Open House tomorrow.

They are calling it a “soft opening” as they are still “under construction”.

Remember the urban block that is slated to be razed?

Zeke’s Drive Thru will be at 6314 Broad Street in East Liberty

(near the Post Office and next door neighbors to  Station Street Hot Dogs,   starting Thursday morning at 6:30) You can see the GOOGLE flag at Bakery Square from the premises. Hope they make it around the block to support their new neighbor.

There’s a banner on the roof. You can’t miss it. Where the pound bags are just that- one pound!
