Would believe I have a nut dish? Just the one.

Steve had a container of mixed nuts and I saw it and thought, wait a minute, somewhere in a China closet there is a designated dish to hold nuts.
I’m serious. A wedding gift in 1974, it was paired with that lidded Lenox candy dish I posted the other day.
An added spoon would be the best way to serve the nuts so people don’t stick their hands in the dish.
I can picture a wooden bowl of mixed nuts, all in their shells. A hinged metal nutcracker (sold as a seafood cracking tool, too) at the ready. I can hear the splitting of a walnut shell. The resistance of an almond shell. The Brazil nuts were especially hard to crack.
Seems these days the nuts are already shelled.
I’m pretty sure I still have one in a kitchen drawer. Do you use a nutcracker?
This time of year you see the wooden decorative nutcrackers on a mantle or hanging nutcracker ornaments on a Christmas tree.

It’s Lješnjaci season. Hazelnuts. Do you like hazelnuts? I’ve never seen them sold like this in the USA but they grow and are harvested here in Croatia. These lješnjaci are out of the shell and sold in net bags. .

I don’t see a lot of walnut trees in the city. These trees are at my friends’ home on Neville Island.
