Here is what is happening with my friend Joanne in St. Augustine.
A guest blog report in gallery form. It was actually Joanne’s idea to post photos from friends in different locations showing what they have been doing as they shelter in place and are isolated from friends and family. Since she has been updating me daily I’m a bit overwhelmed cause she has been doing A LOT. Her to do list and the documentation of it is lengthy. Here are some of the photos that tell the story of her activities in St. Augustine Florida (where my sister and I visited just last month) Thanks for sharing Joanne. I am posting your crossword still life first.
It tells a story all by itself. She titles them Isolation Day Activities. Here’s the gallery with her photos. One thing I can tell you for sure is that is a lot brighter where she is than Pittsburgh PA.
These photos were taken throughout the week, not just one day. Phew!
Then she and Dan visited through a sliding glass door window
As you get gas at the BP station on Route A1A, you can see the colorful Wildflower mural that artist Steven Teller has been painting on this house, which is his studio. There’s an article in the St Augustine Record about his artwork… “displayed Mexican petunias, dune daisies and Gaillardia blanket flowers. He said he noticed that wildflowers became more abundant in Vilano Beach after two hurricanes (Irma,Matthew) rocked the area and spread seeds.”
Getting gas at night is the second photo. Glad our hostess Joanne drove by in the daylight so we could photograph the mural again, not just in the car headlights.
We were watching the Super Bowl Sunday night.
Kansas City came from behind and beat San Francisco. It was a very exciting game and knowing family in Kansas was rooting for them, swayed our cheering for Patrick Mahomes and Coach Andy Reid, too.
I was knitting a sock. In all the excitement I dropped 3 stitches at various intervals and had to get up and move into a stronger light to pick them back up.
Heres what I photographed on a Thursday, January 30.
This vacation plate is on sale in Ayla’s Acres No- Kill Animal Rescue Thrift Shop on King Street in St Augustine, Florida.

”Here’s what I met when I was at the Council of Aging yesterday to drop off auction donations. A little group of therapy dogs tired out from their weekly gig bringing joy to the residents …. their names are Juan Pablo, Ricco Suave, Penelope and Magnolia…..” Photo and text by Joanne
On my recent trip to Florida-
offerings at a farmstand you don’t see in Pittsburgh
We ate a boiled peanut. Soft and spicy. I can’t say I’d try another.
So many people have a peanut allergy but, I found a recipe for how to boil peanuts
if you’re interested.
