No Parking in Alley

Look what Laura sent me.

She was walking and saw the abandoned chair. ❤️

A guest blog today.

Thanks for thinking of me Laura.

Shadyside Alley Find

I was on my way to meet a friend for lunch in the Shadyside neighborhood. I’d parked on Elmer Street and walked up Urn Way.

Look what I found on my way to Walnut Street.

1. The light when on my way
2. In shadow as I returned to my car

Biking Down an Alley

Some streets in the city have alley between them. It’s the third definition I’m talking about

a narrow street : especially : a thoroughfare through the middle of a block giving access to the rear of lots or buildings”

There are garages and the garbage cans set out for pick up. Not a lot of traffic. We we walking to a friends house to play and we went into their backyard via the alley. Charlie biked ahead of us.

Irresistible Challenge

On the way home from school . He cleared it!

How many textures on Mend Way?

Mend Way. Bloomfield. Right near West Penn Hospital. The one block alley/road between Millvale Avenue and Gross Street. I looked down while walking to my car.

All these textures!

Gravel, bricks, sand, dirt, concrete, dried leaves, my leather boot, cigarette butts and the shadows of the chain link fence.

There are many “Ways” in our city. I looked at the list of Street Names and wondered what determined the definition. Merriam-Webster says “Definition of way. 1 a : a thoroughfare for travel or transportation from place to place. b : an opening for passage.”

Finding Van Gogh on Eden Way

Unexpected. Driving home after dinner out. Down a back alley parallel to on Butler Street.

As Steve said- you just never know when you’ll find a Van Gogh.

What I Must Look Like to Others

While sitting in Pamela’s with Erika’s family I saw someone out of the corner of my eye. I was waiting for two eggs over easy- but pulled out the phone.
When I looked out the window I saw this guy shooting in the alley.
Wondered what he saw.
I have shot the same alley at night.
He was intent. Took his time. Shot quite a few. He seemed to stay in the same spot and did not kneel or step to either side- but I thought to myself that this must be what I look like to others around me.

Have a good week.

Do You Even Think About What You See in the Trash?

Due to Penn Avenue closure, I ended up in a Bloomfield Alley and caught this trash scene with the iPhone as I waited to get out into the main road.

Do you think people get tired of looking at what’s on their wall?
