Dog Action and Kids Laughing in the Back Seat

We had a nice time at North Star for dinner and Jeni’s Ice Cream for dessert. Then we went back to Laura and James’ and the kids played with Penny in the backyard.

Soccer.

Then we went to pick up Anna at a birthday party and while I was waiting in the van at sunset, I put the camera between the seats and caught them looking at a funny clip of a video Laura had posted of a kid who wasn’t thrilled about going to Disneyland.

Reverse Root Beer Float at Jeni’s

Columbus Ohio
We got ice cream cones after supper at Jeni’s. Their salty caramel flavor is really good. There was a sign for a reverse root beer float.
Of course, I had to ask…. Cream soda and root beer ice cream. I had a scoop of root beer ice cream along with the salty caramel.  Next time I will try the float!
Jeni’s is delicious

Pay Phone Missing in Short North- Guest Blog

My daughter Laura sent me this photo from her iPhone to my iPhone. She was the one who turned 21 in the Weekly Photo Challenge: fleeting moment post. She’ll be 29 in August.

She and her husband James were walking in Short North, going to Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream Shop  (she had a scoop of grapefruit and a scoop of lemon and blueberries frozen yogurt, cause she told me when I asked.

“James had his usual”     Laura said and I knew what it was but had to get the official name of the flavor on Jeni’s website

The Buckeye State
“Our version of Ohio’s favorite confection. Rich and salty peanut butter yields to the crunch of exceptional dark chocolate for perfect balance. Total comfort for Buckeyes and Buckeyes at heart.”

Anyway, I digress.  This is about the pay phone and the missing pay phone.

I remember the days of pay phones and phone booths, a pile of change.

She saw this and I bet she thought, my mom would photograph this!   I have photographed and posted a similar scene in Wisconsin in 2009.

It’s fun to receive photos from family and friends.  Thanks Laura.

My Sister Peeled 40 Cloves of Garlic Today!

Remember the garlic our brother sent from Okanogan WA?  Well, today our friends S and C from FL were in town and schools were closed due to Rosh Hashanah and Mary made us a delicious lunch. Forty Clove Garlic Chicken! There are a ton of different recipes online but she used 4 large chicken breasts with bone-in and then cut them in half.  Rice and steamed green beans with a touch of butter. And her balsamic fruit salad. It was delicious.  We finished the lunch with a scoop of Jeni’s Salty Caramel ice cream (made in Columbus OH but bought in Whole Foods) and a Gingersnap.
