William Pfahl Fine Artist

William Pfahl Fine Artist

I’m at Mark and Erika’s House in Ohio and saw the gorgeous painting of Immaculate Heart of Mary church in Pittsburgh’s Polish Hill neighborhood.

It’s where they were married in August 2002.

I posted Bill’s artwork in Ohio in 2018 but it deserves another post.

Artist Bill Pfahl’s Paintings in Ohio

Looking around the walls of Mark and Erika’s home, I see several paintings by Pittsburgh artist William Pfahl.

He has a painting on the wall of the Pittsburgh Mayor’s Office, too.

Here is the latest addition to their collection of Bill Pfahl’s art.

St. Boniface on Northside where Anna, Michael and Jack were baptized Immaculate Heart of Mary – Mark and Erika’s Wedding.

Here’s a photo I took at Bill’s art show in Sharpsburg.

And here is he is painting the 16th Street Bridge

Bill was part of the People at Work Show at Panza Gallery July 2018

Here is his palette

thanks Bill for commemorating the important Pittsburgh landmarks that mean so much to Mark and Erika and their children.

Polish Hill Skateboard Spot

When I saw what I thought was a wading pool filled with graffiti, I thought I’d return another day and photograph it.

Sunday after coffee, Steve and I drove over to the park in Polish HIll and as I walked closer, I realized it was NOT a wading pool that was decorated with urban art but a place for kids to skateboard.

Here’s a list of skateboarding terms and info about the physics of it but not sure if I am properly labeling this pit a half- pipe or not.

Alas, not a skateboarder in sight on Sunday morning so no action shots.

Groundhog in City Traffic

Below Polish Hill, turning onto Liberty Ave into the Strip District.  Here is what I saw.

He got out from under the cars as we were all stopped at the red light.

Instead of crossing the road, he kept walking back under the cars.

Good thing I had my camera on the front seat.

Good thing he didn’t get squished.  I felt sorry for the groundhog.

Too much concrete to burrow in.

(And my car windows need a wash)

Can you see the groundhog

Just a snippet.  I saw movement.

Coming under the cars.  Oh no.

Go the other way.  He did eventually.

Groundhog in the City

I felt badly for the groundhog but at least he finally made it to the side before the light turned green. But what then?

Happy 11th Wedding Anniversary- August 17th

On the church steps of Immaculate Heart of Mary in Polish Hill Pittsburgh PA.

A cool day today.  Not so on the actual wedding day 11 years ago. We went to 4 o’clock mass with the family.  Immaculate Heart of Mary Steps

My son Mark and his bride Erika and  Anna, Maura, Michael and Jack, on the church steps.

Polish Hill Pittsburgh- Early Evening Light

Happy 8th Anniversary, Mark and Erika. As I pulled out of the FedEx parking lot I looked up and saw the light on Immaculate Heart of Mary where you exchanged your wedding vows. Steve and I drove over the little bridge and up the hill to capture the church in light and shadow. Just remembering your happy day.  It sure was hot. love, Ma

Happy Anniversary Mark and Eirka!
