We waited for a second caboose

The stationary red caboose, built in 1923, is now a Train Observation Station.

We’d just left the Worthington Community Center Pool, walking across the parking lot and heading home for supper. And we heard the whistle. A train! (Click for short video)

I thought there might be two cabooses but no caboose at the end of today’s freight train. Laura was good to wait.

Chimes of Comfort by Woodstock Chimes

Friday afternoon- I was sitting on the front porch knitting. A Fed Ex truck arrived with an unexpected birthday gift.

What lovely timing. Thank you J.

Now I have Wind Chimes on my front porch like Laura and James’ house. When a breeze blows, the tones are clear and melodious. A donation was made to Hospice Foundation of America when you purchased them from Woodstock Chimes. Reading about the Charitable Chimes made them even more special.

Here’s what they sound like with the tones from Amazing Grace

Hummus

Just the other day, my friend Joanne told me of a documentary about Hummus. She sent me the trailer on YouTube and I was able to stream it and watch the various cultures claim the origin of this Middle Eastern Chickpea dish. Here’s the trailer of the film

Retro American Tourister Train Case

The color is “Fawn”. I received a three piece American Tourister luggage set from my maternal grandparents on the occasion of my 1970 high school graduation. The two suitcases are gone. But here’s the train case.

The red, white and blue luggage tag is at home in Pittsburgh, I’m pretty sure. .

While I’m here in Columbus OH, I saw the remaining piece in the closet at Laura’s home. I asked her what’s in there? Calico Critters from her childhood.

Columbus Mosaic at Clinton Elementary

Friday we went to Charlie’s school for Art Night and saw the students’ artwork displayed.

Charlie and Laura read the explanation

As we toured every floor, we saw this ceramic tile mosaic mural in the cafeteria. It was striking.

The ceramic tile artist Marlo Bartels Mosaic Saved article describes the journey the mural has taken. Here’s a short video telling how this colorful mural has been moved THREE times. You can not only hear the artist interviewed, but see Marlo Bartels do repair work on his mosaic mural at Clinton Elementary.

The Van Sickles of Durand Illinois

My son put together this little video, with photos from my grandmother’s album, and paid for the use of the accompanying music.

McCammon Chase Holiday Displays

I was a passenger last night. We were looking at holiday lights. Erika drove us through the McCammon Chase neighborhood where the HOA has coordinated uniform light displays. Tree trunks wrapped in red lights, white lights draped in the bare branches.

Here’s a quick video of driving through a block or two so you can be amazed like I was.

And a still snipped from from the video
