Bringing Joy

A little handmade gift is especially appreciated by someone who makes handmade gifts. You know what they put into it! ❤️

Thank you dear Pam, a fellow sock knitter.
Thank you dear Tookie. Your beaded ball and mitten are great additions to the garland.
.

And sometimes you get totally surprised by a generous spirit, thank you dear Carrie, who created and sent an Advent box, opening a new little package of yarn each day . Just look at the colors! –

And Maine surprises-chocolate lobsters, Moose Poop and maple syrup.

I’m going to knit a Simple Stripes sweater, a fingering weight pattern.

Subway Tokens

Here’s a 2018 article saying the NYC Subway tokens stopped being used in 2003.

I found two while cleaning

One vintage brass Bullseye token sells for $15 on Etsy.

So these two could be valued at that steep price?

A Sweet Gift

Honey. Harvested by Cougar Canyon Apiary in Malott WA. Extracted with no heat.

A wonderfully sweet gift from my brother David and his wife Carolee. Thank you

I believe toast in the morning will be on the menu so I can sample this golden treat.

How do you use honey?

The Sound of a Freight Train

This is the East Liberty USPS parking lot.

I was returning to my car after mailing a few packages and I heard the sound of this train.

It was close.

Three Types of Apples

Three different types of apples, peeled and chunked and cooked on the stove top to make applesauce -nothing added, just apples. Last farm box delivery had three bags of apples. A lot of apples.

Trying for one continuous strip of peel for the entire apple

Blue Bottle Tree

Keeping evil spirits out of the garden and home- bottle trees were created to catch those evil spirits. Here’s an article about the American Bottle Tree on Smithsonian Gardens blog.

I photographed this blue bottle tree in Lenox CT as we went for early morning coffee in November. The bottle tree has African origins and has now spread across the country but was primarily evident in the South. Now you can order a bottle trees online from you know where.

A Friend’s Dishes Made Me Laugh

How about this bowl? There’s a fly in your soup! What are these fun dishes, I asked?

Calamityware

Created by artist/ retired graphic designer Don Moyer. Read about how he took a classic Blue Willow plate “ The Calamityware series started in 2011 when I inherited a traditional, Willow-pattern plate and decided to sketch it in my notebook. I couldn’t resist the temptation to add a pterodactyl in the sky”

Check out the TCBW collection. That’s Things Could Be Worse

When was the last time you looked at a dish and laughed?
