Apples to Apples on the Blog over the Years

A few days ago I posted Erika and two of the grandkids walking in the apple orchard.

Then Steve’s art on the mantel with the Granny Smith apple.

Just for fun I did a google search – Apple and rutheh. Quite a few photos of apples or some form of apples appeared in the results.  Many apple photos  over the years of blogging. Some other fruit appeared and even some tomatoes as I scrolled down.  Here are a few examples of apple photos from previous posts.

There is the Before they Get to the Store post showing how Honey Crisps are grown in Washington.

An early blog post from August 2009   Anna is 15 now

Like a science experiment.  Drastic temperature change.       Anna (5) said “Get your camera and take a picture. You could win a prize!”

So this is what it looks like when “the bottom falls out”!

Little Green Apples

It’s an iPhone photo story and the bowl of peelings didn’t come out.   This was last Thursday.

Recipe for a summer afternoon.

Generous neighbors with an apple tree laden with fruit- a couple of boxes waiting  to be filled. (We filled one.)

A friend to help pick, peel, core and slice.

The crust was butter, flour and salt, a few tablespoons of ice water- mixed up in the food processor, rolled out.

Four open face pie/tarts and one quart of applesauce that looks almost green to me.

We took one of the pies down to the owners of the apple tree and were they ever surprised.   I brought one out to Ohio for the family. Along with the applesauce.

Small apples, tart and sweet, firm flesh and delicious.  A sprinkle of lemon, dots of butter and light on the cinnamon.   A bit raggedy looking but tasty.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Regret

Regret one has to clean up the results of the cold glass jar from the garage placed onto the room temperature countertop.

No photographs of the things I regret having done, or things I haven’t done that I wish I had….the regret of not sending the birthday card in time, not calling on the phone in time, not leaving early enough in the day to be there to say good bye. The disappointment and sorrow of the human kind not in the archives.  A true challenge to come up with a response to the challenge.

Fellow bloggers responses to the weekly photo challenge entries are here

Thought this a creative response -you can hear Edith Piaf sing No Regrets on this fellow bloggers WPC: Regret
