Getting Around NYC Today
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is coming September 6th and every single car of the Grand Central Shuttle was covered with ads for it. Mary asked, I wonder how much this ad campaign costs? My thought? A lot!

Surprise Find by Granddaughter West Village NYC
It was Tuesday morning.
She was jumping up and down and made me close my eyes as she guided me out the front door of my sister’s apartment building. Close your eyes, close your eyes. She was breathless.
She was so excited.
I opened my eyes and there was a couch at the curb.
Abandoned furniture. A favorite for the collection.

If couches could talk……

It was still there later in the day

Walk to the Water by artist Clementine Martinez
These colorfully painted spheres caught my eye as we walked to the Riverfront Park along the Hudson. here are a few examples.
“WALK TO THE WATER IN HUDSON SQUARE
The Hudson Square BID (Business Improvement District) and artist Clementine Martinez have created a way-finding system that uses outdoor art pieces to take viewers through a historical walking tour of the neighborhood. The exhibit leads viewers to the river past 20 painted spheres on a path along Spring and Washington streets to the new crossing to Hudson River Park just south of the Google building at St. John’s Terminal. The artworks are accompanied by a digital guide that dive deeper into the events and places that inspired each artwork with members of the community sharing stories about the neighborhood” from the TriBeCa Citizen

Original Plum Torte in NYC
Original Plum Torte Recipe by Marian Burros debuted in 1983. It’s an annual ritual as summer comes to a close and the Italian Plums are perfection. You need twelve, cut in half.
After an almost nine hour train ride from Pittsburgh, we arrived in NYC just before five and when we got to Mary’s she had all the ingredients prepared. Prema placed the plums on top of the batter. sprinkled the cinnamon sugar on top.

Nine years ago I posted a plum torte
Kennywood Wave Swinger at Night
In Lost Kennywood Tuesday Night

Here’s the short video of the ride
One of Prema’s favorite rides.
“The German-built Wave Swinger is one of the most beautiful rides in the park, especially at night! Its 48 swings suspend guests while the ride rotates in a circular, wavelike motion.”
A Goldfinch on a Brick Road Guest Blog

Goldfinches are messengers of good luck. They bring abundance, joy, and optimism
I like that thinking.
Porch Knitting Inspiration
My granddaughter took a photo of me and two good knitting friends as we sat on my front porch, knitting.
One friend Terry was knitting socks with the Woolens and Nosh Yarn colorway actually named Porch Knitting.
Our friend Randi was knitting a Hawthorne Tank by Caitlin Hunter.
I was knitting Christmas Socks with Must Stash Yarn that Terry had given me.
I shared the photo of the three of us with our Knitting Buddies Zoom group.

And the photo inspired one of our members to paint us -Porch Knitting.
It was Joanne’s first time using acrylics and she was visiting her sister Mary who was tutoring her on using the new paints. Joanne usually paints with watercolors.
Here’s her first acrylic painting-
