Pittsburgh Skyline, Incline and Sea of Fog
Made the decision to turn right at the mouth of the Liberty Tunnel, go to Mount Washington and photograph the city in fog on the way to school this morning.
I thought the above shot was best with the gift of light on the incline car, as it prepared to head down the mountain. No tripod although there was a man with one. I stabilized my camera on the iron fence.
Of course, the light changes every moment as the sunrises in the east. All shots taken with 24-70 lens on the Canon 5D Mark ii

Being there. looking at the city in the fog, was a magnificent experience. The limits of photography.
It felt like being in a plane but you’re standing on a concrete platform by the incline, looking at the city disappear in a foggy sea. Wasn’t it just last week I was photographing the icy river and the barge lane? Today felt like early Spring.

Ohio River Fog Before Sunrise, Then Clear Reflections
Sunday morning I met my friend and her son to photograph his senior pictures at the boathouse where he rows.
It was foggy and felt like fall.
I could hear a tugboat chugging along the river but could just make out the lights. Not even an outline.
Then as the time passed the bridge was visible and the fog burned off. It was a beautiful morning.

Magi With Gift on Vending Machine and the Ice Cream Sandwich Vacuum
What I found after lunch at the inservice today at Pittsburgh Filmmakers-
Sure this King has been shot a thousand times but it was my first sighting and he made me laugh out loud when I looked up and saw him.
I did attempt to purchase an ice cream sandwich ( I know, I know….) from the frozen vending machine and the lid of the freezer compartment opened and the vacuum hose was at the ready to suck up a sandwich but the machine was empty and rejected my dollar bill. Waaaaaaaaah!
The man at the equipment desk with the retro Pirates hat came to assist and told me that sometimes, if you are lucky, the ice cream sandwiches get stuck together and he has actually seen as many as FIVE get sucked up and dispensed. Several colleagues waited with me, hopefully. EMPTY!
And here is the shot I got when I left my driveway on the second day of back to the school year. Just had the iPhone camera once again.
Woke Up, It Was a Foggy Morning
My sister and I were on the phone and she had just asked me about my seeing things to photograph and am I always on the lookout for a good photo and I said I think I take fewer pictures now, that I am not obsessing about getting a decent shot blah blah blah and THEN-
And when I got to the red light at the end of the Liberty Bridge before the tunnel, I saw the fog enveloping the PPG building except for the pointy towers peeking through.
I opened the back window and took a quick shot.
On the way to school the next day I didn’t get a red light so no photo.
Day three! A red light and another quick pick of the city without the fog.
