Snow Enhances Lights

Left school so late that it was dark. Drove a circuitous route home to check out the lights in Morningside. The house I have photographed the past two years didn’t have a single light. Thinking about the possible reasons for no lights this year but maybe they just moved. This house up the street looked lovely in the snow with the greens and ribbons on the white fence.

Looks like a Christmas card.
Looks more like New England than Pittsburgh to me.

Urban Bird Housing

Driving from one school to another I vary my route. Not specifically looking for photos, just trying to find a good way to go with the least traffic flow. Colorful bird houses dangling from the branches of a city tree made me smile.

Seeing these colorful houses and thinking of the person who put them in this tree, cheered me!

First Snow

As I left school, I saw the snow on the tree. When I walked across the street I saw the Scarecrow people and the ever-blooming flowers in the hanging pot! Happy December

Right across the street from school I saw this tree with a dusting of snow
I didn't get the Blessed Mother in the shot, but she was there!

Once a Turkey

Actually captured this shot on the way into school last week before the holiday but it seemed a good one to post today.  It’s been pouring all day(Tuesday), the mood particularly grim and gray.  Snow is threatened but the temperature will have to drop twenty degrees. Don’t know the recipe of the smashed turkey dessert but it looks like Oreos and candy corn and a Devil’s Food cupcake were involved. I guess the green is frosting?  When I went to examine it after school, it was just a total grease spot on the concrete step. The smashed turkey was gone.

By afternoon, this turkey had disappeared. Looks like it took the bottom of someone's shoe first!

Syon Abbey, Copper Hill, Virginia

Syon Abbey’s groundbreaking took place in 2002.You’re driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway and then you see it across a huge green field.  I didn’t realize it was built so recently.

I thought the downed fence in front added some depth to the image.
