Raising the Jolly Roger in the Burgh

Baseball in October’s called BUCTOBER around here. Go Bucs!

For the first time in a couple of decades, the whole city of Pittsburgh is excited about baseball.

(Now Sue, you were there all the twenty one years of losing seasons too so this must be especially sweet)

Night Game Review

Grove City HS beat Pittsburgh Carrick HS 34-12 but it was a good game. The Pittsburgh Carrick team is under new leadership and the whole effort and spirit is respectable and positive.  Last year the score for the same first non-conference game was Grove City 40 and Carrick 0.  This year it was a real game and Carrick scored first and last.  Nice job, guys, coaches.

Several of my photography students are on the team and some of the students I’ve met in another capacity.  The Spanish teacher and his three teenage kids were in attendance as well and we were happy to be there.

It was about 65 miles north of the city and I was glad Steve went with me, especially for the long, dark ride back home.  The gentleman in the concession stand was giving away the leftover hot dogs after the game and wouldn’t take any $.  Nice hosts!    (Shot with Canon 5D Mark ii and a 70-200 L series Lens, steadied on a chain link fence top)

Little Italy Days Bloomfield Neighborhood, Pittsburgh PA

Saturday afternoon I went to Little Italy Days in Bloomfield with my friend V and this evening I went over with Steve.

The street was blocked off and it was quite festive.  Can’t put up the aromas of the various food items.

Baseball Fan Dressed as a Pirate has Attended 39 Games This Season-

…and that was Tuesday night, August 6th. There’ve been two more games since then in the series (both wins) and I bet she went to them, too.

As we were  leaving the game and I saw her, I asked if it would be okay to photograph her in her Pirates costume.

Tattooed Mannequin – Back in the ‘Burgh

Summer vacation’s a wonderful break from the school year.

Have to report back to school two weeks from tomorrow 8-20.

It’s difficult to see summer come to a close.  Even the weather seems tinged with fall.

Trying to keep the blog in “real time” and needed a Pittsburgh photo to post tonight.  I shot this when Steve and I went on the Ducky Tour.

The Pirates are playing the Marlins at PNC Park tomorrow night. And tickets are in hot demand these days!  GO BUCS!

This  mannequin sports PIRATES ink.  I’d never seen a tattooed mannequin before this one.   Shot through the store window at Station Square.

We Are Family

Big Walnut Skate Club – Sunbury Ohio

At school I teach what a photo essay is- a series of photos that tells a story, with or without captions.   I also got to practice my sports photography.

A double birthday party for two neighbor boys whose Mom rented out the entire Roller Rink for the evening.  WOW!

The kids tried roller blades and four wheel skates for the first time and Mom Erika got out on the floor and gave a hand to help them stay upright.

The lighting in the place was a challenge, too.

Dear Followers, Readers, Friends and Family,

Thanks for all the lovely comments and emails. I appreciate the good words and your cheering me on.

It was fun to share celebrating the four year mark of the blog.

I think my headline/title confused some people as I meant I was just starting the fifth year of blogging as the four year anniversary occurred.

xxooxx
