Freight Trains

Trains overhead while walking with a friend on Heritage Trail Pittsburgh along the Allegheny River, Monday morning. I like the sound of a train whistle.

What a surprise to hear the train coming overhead
Metal wheels screeching on the metal tracks

And Saturday night at Sunset- in Ohio. We crossed the tracks just before the red lights flashed and the gates came down. We pulled in the adjacent lot. I got out and filmed the freight train-a short one. It’s almost 2 and a half minutes, start to finish, which is a short freight train.

Lone Shoe-Guest Blog

Today’s post is number 4,446.

It’s alway satisfying to receive a photo and the sender says they thought of me when they took it.  This photo was sent by my SIL Bobbie in Kansas City.

Bobbie says.

I took a photo of this lone shoe, seen during my regular early Saturday morning walk.”

These photos are great writing prompts…..

Freedom Tower Two Views

My sister sends me photos from her early morning walks in New York City.

Her guest blogging helps me with interesting posts when I’m not really going anywhere.

It’s cool she’s a tourist where she lives. Thanks, Mary.

June Gallery of Roses in Berlin

The first photo a rose bouquet I purchased from the Winterfeldplatz Market. The other roses seen while walking.

Rose season in full bloom.

At all stages of blossoming,  they are lovely to see.  When I went to find rose quotations to accompany the photos  there were over three hundred to choose from including the mention of thorns, of course.

Decided on a single most well known quotation spoken by Juliet but I’m sure more thoughts on roses will come to your own mind.

(And on a side note Kiez Eis https://kiezeis.de/ on Winterfeld Strasse is featuring Rosewasser Ice Cream in addition to the rhubarb and asparagus flavors I’ve mentioned recently.)

“WHAT’S IN A NAME? THAT WHICH WE CALL A ROSE,  BY ANY OTHER NAME WOULD SMELL AS SWEET.”
