A Decadent Dessert

Creme Brûlée with fresh berries and a mint leaf garnish. You break the sugar crust with a spoon and find the vanilla bean flavored rich custard underneath. So rich and silky. Makes everything feel like a celebration. A mouthful of Creme brûlée with a fresh berry is satisfying delicious! Thanks for a treating me, V. What a finish.

At Lunch With Friends

Three decades of knowing one another, these two neighbors lived in the next block. One still does. We reunited today to share stories of past times remembered.

The Gift of Homemade Jam

Happy mail today.  Three jars of wonderful homemade jam made by Pam with the goodness from her Massachusetts garden. Wrapped so carefully, protected perfectly, the mail carrier delivered the unexpected box Friday afternoon. Not a drop spilled. They were well padded- Blubarb, Golden Raspberry and Red Raspberry.  Oh my. Which to sample first?

Saturday morning will require some toast and butter.  How you make the jam without pectin and just half the sugar sounds amazing!  Thank you for the delightful gift.  I appreciate your sharing your harvest and culinary skills.

The golden raspberry might be first as I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a golden raspberry.

Unidentified Colorful Berries on a Vine

Saturday afternoon.

These colorful (but unidentifed) berries on a vine caught my eye! Highland Park, Pittsburgh.

The colors looked unreal.

Fourth of July Dessert

Last Tuesday I went to see my friend V. This is what she served me! Blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries on top of vanilla bean ice cream presented on a blue and white china plate. A perfect Fourth of July dessert. The summer berries combined with the rich creamy ice cream were delicious. I wanted to lick the plate. I knew it wold be a good post as soon as I saw her serve it. Good thing I brought my camera.
