Apple Picking and Farm Market Checkout Line

Honey Crisp Apple season and the orchard was open for picking. You could get a big bag or a small. We got one of each

Laura drove us out to Lynd Farm in Pataskala Ohio. Charlie got to pick his first apple. It didn’t take long to fill our bags. The first checkout you are in your car and you pop your trunk so they can check to make sure you’re not loading up on Apples without paying.

At the market we bought little pumpkins, apple butter and some yellow cherry tomatoes and zucchini plus a bag of “seconds” – Macintosh- to make applesauce.

And there were long checkout lines so we waited – there’s our challenge word again Waiting

Graduate’s Name Carved in Watermelon Rind

Congratulations Nate.  I love that someone took the time and trouble to carve the graduate’s name into the watermelon.

I wish I’d gotten the artist’s name.Nate's Watermelon

idiom- definition from Wikipedia

  1. An idiom (Latin: idioma, “special property”, from Greek: ἰδίωμα – idíōma, “special feature, special phrasing, a peculiarity”, f. Greek: ἴδιος – ídios, “one’s own”) is a phrase or a fixed expression that has a figurative, or sometimes literal, meaning. An idiom’s figurative meaning is different from the literal meaning.

“sometimes used ….to mean just the opposite”

If you’ve been with me since the beginning of this blog (almost six years) you’ve probably seen one of my favorite posts from 2009.  Shot in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.  Fiestaware bowl.

A Variety of Reds in my Kitchen, Photographed with a New Mirrorless

Red Still Life in the Kitchen Photographed with Mirrorless Camera

Portable, lightweignt. Able to fit in a small bag instead of a huge one.  Not so bulky.

Interchangeable lenses. A postive review all around.

You don’t always want to lug heavy DSLRs and weighty (but wonderful) glass around your neck.

A phone camera isn’t sufficient as an alternative.

AND there was the bonus of a hefty instant rebate at time of purchase.

I’d been looking and thinking about mirrorless cameras for awhile.

Reading reviews, I thought it would be a Fuji but the SONY a5000 had an affordable 20.1 Megapixel price that seemed fortuitous.

I’m satisfied with the results so far.   Will keep experimenting.

The Organic Cranberries’ Fate

When I unloaded the grocery bags, the container fell out of a bag and opened up.
All the cranberries rolled down the driveway.
Matthew helped get a broom but there wasn’t much to sweep.

Friday and Saturday mornings- starts of the day in Texas

The vibrant colors seemed a cheerful welcome to Saturday’s Wedding Celebration. Top two taken with the Canon 50D

and the photograph below with breakfast on the colorful Fiestaware was taken at the bride’s parents’ home Friday morning. Everything seemed bigger and brighter than what I’ve been experiencing all winter.
