Kennywood and Keystone Safari Park

Grandson Jack is here for a quick visit.

What to do that didn’t involve being inside around people? Sunday night we did three hours of Fall Fantasy at Kennywood Amusement Park but what to do on a rainy Monday?

My friend V said last summer her family enjoyed the Keystone Safari Park. You drive about 2 MPH through the park. Make sure you’re by the car window! You’re feeding a wide variety of animals as they stick their beaks and big faces right in the car window.

Now You Are Six

Now We Are Six.

When I was one,
I had just begun.
When I was two,
I was nearly new.
When I was three,
I was hardly me.
When I was four,
I was not much more.
When I was five,
I was just alive.
But now I am six,
I’m as clever as clever.
So I think I’ll be six now
for ever and ever.

Start Them Early – Guest Blog

Guest Blog photo shot, taken by Grandson Charlie, who’ll turn six on the 25th. Sunday afternoon I arrived for a visit and we were in the back seat while his mom drove. He asked if he could use my phone to take pictures. I deleted the close up ones of me but thought this shot taken from his car window was a good one.

Unretouched photo captured by Charlie.

Outgrown Sleeper Transformed

Here’s a January 2019 photo. Grandson Charlie visiting at my house. He’s wearing a fleece footed sleeper that was a cozy favorite. Doesn’t take long for kids to outgrow their clothes, though.

In December 2020 my daughter sent the kitty footed sleeper to me with a request- could I make something special from it?

So I made doll pajamas, with the sleeve cuffs being the pants ankle cuffs now.

After I sewed the pjs, there was a lot of the sleeper leftover  but I couldn’t see anything in my mind to make from it. The scraps hung around for 3 weeks. Then I got an idea.
Yesterday I created Zippy the snake with the remainder. Stuffed a couple of knee socks with fiberfill and put them into the column I created to look like a snake. Now the snake can lose his skin with zero mess.

On to the post office tomorrow to get these mailed to Charlie. I’m hoping he likes the transformation.

Lightning Captured by Jack

Guest blogger today is grandson Jack (13) who used Slo-Mo to capture lightning in a storm the other night. He texted it to me so I uploaded it and am sharing it with you. It was an unexpected bright spot to receive the lightning.
Here’s the link to the 12 second clip.

15 Already? Wow!

Happy Birthday dear Michael,

I know you’ve grown taller since I saw you the end of June. I wish you a very happy new year, a wonderful first year of high school and in just 6 months you’ll get your permit! Oh my.

Love you, FF Ruthie

Only a Five Year Throwback Thursday

Someone is five years old today.

Five years flew by.

Stay tuned for a possible photo of the birthday boy. No party due to Pandemic 2020.

Connecting Virtually

You miss the physical connection, the being together.

We’re into the third month of being apart.

Grateful for virtual connection via Face Time

Michael Photographs the Airedales

My grandson Michael (14) is the guest blogger today. Michael took some photos of Henry and Josie, their Airedale Terriers, over Memorial Day weekend.

The family visited the other grandparents in Virginia and celebrated Mark’s birthday.

Thanks for sharing your photos, Michael.

You captured the humorous duo!  Keep on photographing, too.

New steps on the back deck in Ohio. Debating whether or not to take them.

In 2013 I blogged your first Airedale, Murphy, under that very same tree in Virginia.

Playing UNO Together 200 Miles Apart

All you need is an UNO deck apiece.

And you FaceTime, making sure your discard pile can be seen.

It took a few reminders for me from Laura as to whose turn it was, especially when we reversed.

Here’s Lauras selfie from their end in Ohio.
