Tiramisu: Yes or No?

Tiramisu at Winterfeld Market Platz (takeaway- see how beautifully it was wrapped up- and then eaten at home the next day -shared by three adults. We chose the one without the alcohol )

(and we had delicious coffee at the market)

Licorice-Yes or No?

This past week I’ve asked how you feel about eating Cilantro and Rhubarb. What tastes are pleasing to your palate?

Here’s another distinctive flavor.

Licorice-Yes or no?

Meet Menno, from Holland, who has a stand on Saturdays at Winterfeldplatz Market, selling all kinds of licorice. Some with salt. Some with a lot of salt   My eldest son likes licorice. I do, too   But without the salt for me, please. Here is Menno’s website   http://www.lecker-lakritz.de

Somewhere in the archives I have photos of my sister eating a licorice ice cream cone in Twisp Washington. And of course Menno has sold pure licorice powder to our favorite Berlin ice cream store, Kiez Eis, for licorice ice cream. You know I asked.

Big Chuck’s Market, North Side

We knew there was a story when we saw this market on Chestnut Street. We wondered who Big Chuck was when we saw the sign above the door.

“For decades, Charlie Standfast was an icon of Troy Hill, known in the North Side as a man who took care of his neighbors.” *

The trolley tracks are still visible in the brick street.

Read Big Chuck’s (Charlie Standfast) life story by Jessica Turnbull ( written in 2009) about how he kept this Chestnut Street Market for more than thirty years on the North Side, click the link below

Potsdamer Platz Market- Men at Work

Thursday I was photographing some food items for a Things to Eat in Berlin Gallery.

When I saw the wurst stand I went up and asked if it was okay to take a picture.

My plan was to snap the big pile of wurst on the grill. But suddenly I had some generous posing chefs.

Here is photo one

And oops, I realized the man on the left in the photo below  wasn’t in my frame and he was standing with a wurst, too.  Do over!

I took another shot to include him and suddenly a photo bomb appears behind the three men.

Thank you,  gentlemen. You made my day!
